No. I hate soccer/Football. The thing is I am English, so its harder for me to avoid the world cup, even though I really don't think England will win (at least I hope they don't, then everyone will shut up about it). I prefer American football, Ice hockey and Baseball every single time, at least in American football and Ice hockey, stuff happens and I just really like baseball.

England. Not UK, UK has a different team for each part - Scotland, Wales,England, Northern Ireland.

I care not for football at any time, the World Cup I just find annoying. It's especially odd since it's the time when I see the most England flags, I mean the only time you see patriotism is when we try to be the best at something completely pointless.

I haven't liked watching sports of any kind for a long time, but yesterday I watched a game for a while and actually enjoyed it a bit.

I don't particularly care, though it does sometimes offer some interesting play, best soccer players going at it does provide some good play. But I dislike the whole event for one reason; People are fucktards. With that statement I want to point out that people like to be extra fucktarded around this time and it angers me.

So to answer your question, yes but no.

Nope, not a bit. Americans have more important things to watch on TV.
like? Baseballs out.

OT: I love the world cup, The reason its so "Hyped" is because this brings the world together, Just like the Olympics. Its one of the most important events in a lot of foreign country's. ESPECIALLY third world country's because it brings them together. Then again here in America people refer to it as a pussy sport. Fuck them though its has the most running next to track and field and Lacrosse.

I hate the World Cup not because I can't stand football but because of the fake patriotism surrounding it. All the people who say "we" when what they mean is "the team". "We" didn't do anything. "We" aren't even there. "We" are sitting at home watching the telly. Fucking idiots. And don't even get me started on the adverts.

What I do love, is that all the sponsors of the English team aren't English.

I will watch world cup, simply because the soccer hooligans in the stands get crazy and its fun to listen to them, but the stupid horns they have this year have ruined that part of the experience

Football is incredibly boring for me too watch. I don't find it exciting in any way because, well it simply isn't exciting, it's people kicking a ball around. There are far more exciting sports that I watch (air racing when I can, and occasionally snow sport events like downhill skiing and bob-sleigh). I also don't like how people take it too seriously, they can't seem to realise that it is really just a game and nothing more, problems arise when people can't accept this and take insults against their team as personal.

As has been mentioned before, the "patriotism" of fans is remarkably stupid. People all too often forget that they are supporting a team, not a country (and the bloody incessant carriage of England flags makes me want to punch people in the face on occasion).

So I guess my objection is that people take the sport far too seriously. The culture and hooliganism surrounding it is pathetic, and unfortunately far too many fall victim to it, like a bunch of lemmings running off a cliff if you will.

Personally I'm not a big fan of football normally, but when the World Cup comes around I find it too irresistible to not get give it any attention. People know they're not actually playing the match, but the teams are representing the entire nation and therefore those within the nation do have reason to say "we" because although not being physical participants of the game they are still a fundamental part of the team because without them, the nation, there would be no team. And that brings the feeling of belonging that most football fans, and even those not normally orientated by the beautiful game would call patriotism but I really dont see whats "fake" about it at all. These people honestly want their team to win including myself.

GO ON ENGLAND!

Patriotism is love of and devotion to one's country. Not wanting to win a completely banal competition.
