I reload wheneverI think it is safe, I do it in more than just shooters. In Oblivion/Fallout I am constantly repairing, in Bioshock I am constantly recharging EVE, thankfully I don't feel a need to be at 100% HP all the time or I suspect I would die from lack of supplies.

Same thing in flashpoint. Forced me to restart a mission twice.

I reload after every kill, and I agree in Borderlands it can be a problem if you have a slow reload speed.

Hey, I've been playing shooters for about ten years now, and I noticed I reload after almost every kill, which is a problem sometimes. So I was wondering, does anyone else do this?
If not, what habit do you have when gaming? From clicking the analog stick, to gunning the engine in racers.
Yep, it's become something of a reflex for me. Every time I score a kill I uncontrollably hit the reload button, for better or worse.

I reload after every single shot... cause it bothers me that my clip isn't full...

I learned to reload after every shot because of Left 4 Dead. Never know when you'll need all 30 pistol shots.

I wish there were more games like Escape from Butcher Bay where every clip is actually a standalone clip and not just a part of some imaginary ammo pile. Meaning, if you're not careful about your bullets you can reload and waste a full clip. Loved that.

I normally reload when I either kill someone and no one's around or when I run out of bullets in a fight.

I used to, but then I learnt to reload when I know I'm alright, or at least whilst in cover.

Doesn't matter in TF2 though as you can fire whilst reloading, like in L4D with the pushing. Reload all you want, and as long as you don't play spy turn on auto reload, the revolver takes up the screen whilst reloading and aiming like that sucks, so auto reload needs to be off for spys.

I guess there's no reason to not reload...

With this kind of situation being the only exception.

But most games just treat your magazine as a hose of bullets or plasma you need to keep refilling from your ammo tank.

I think constant reload syndrome has more pros than cons. You always have a full clip. I am able to finish off multiple kills w/out reloading if I have to though. It's not quite automatic for me. I do have some control.

In FPS games where you don't lose the leftover ammo from reloading, YES, always. In games like Fallout 3 where it takes an ungodly amount of time to reload a fucking pistol, NO

pretty much after a kill unless i still need to shoot i do it mainly to keep my clip full so if i need a whole clip of ammo to bring down a bastard i can.

I have it. It's annoying, and becomes a problem sometimes, but it's useful sometimes, unlike my friends who always forget to reload.

Yeah, I reload every time I kill an enemy. Plus, If I just use one or two bullets to blow up a gas can or something, I have to reload afterwards. I call it "compulsive reloading". I can never use light machine guns in shooters because they take so long to reload.

In Rainbow Six Vegas I always end up doing it reflexively after every few shots. It only becomes a considerable problem when I switch to a light machine gun, which takes approximately six to seven hours to reload, with no way to abort the animation by switching weapons or anything.

I do indeed! Then went to playing Mass Effect, and found I had no grenades rather quickly :(
