Martian Gothic very difficult very underrated i think most the hate came from the fact you couldn't kill the zombies and some of the puzzles were ridiculous.

Far Cry 2, which isn't universally hated, but boy oh boy is it a love-it-or-hate-it deal. And I'll echo the Halo 2 from others; it's the only Halo game I actually like a bit, mainly because the Arbiter is so darned cool.

None that I can think of (unless you count mainstream titles that people hate on). However, I am a big fan of "I-Ninja," which got lukewarm reviews and not many people played. Great game...

I don't care if The first Resident evil has horrible production values, its still the scariest horror game short of the System Shock series.
Wait people actually hate the first Resident Evil game...

This is a genuine surprise to me.

Alpha Protocol. I loved it got rid of the generic "good" and "evil" response types with "friendly," "angry," "flirty" (if you can call it that...), and "ISHOOTUDEAD."

Halo ODST and Wars. ODST is my favorite Halo game by far, and it's constantly bashed for being a "failed experiment". And I just find Wars to be an excellent, if flawed, translation of Halo to RTS.

Other than that, I can't really think of any off the top of my head, but I know there's more in there.

Final Fantasy 8: my favourite in the series. I'm such a girly wuss at times.

The ENTIRE Koei/Dynasty Warriors back catalogue: I have pretty much every game they have made(including Xtreme Legends and Tactics spinoffs). My brain is aware that they're basically reselling the same game each time with different character skins and a slightly modified game engine but I DO so love racking up over 1000 dead Yellow Turbans, turning Lu Bu into pulp and stealing his horse. Ken's Rage made me a happy, happy lady indeed.

Tomb Raider: Chronicles: LOVE.

The World Ends With You: Now this one did well from critics ratings, but everyone I know IRL who has played it has shouted me down and given a pile of abuse because I think it's a great little game. I'll stick by my guns; it's fantastic.

I like Psychonauts; although it's pretty polarizing, it's not necessarily 'widely hated'. That said, I can concede that its critics are right when they say that the combat isn't great and that it has a few too many scavenger hunts, but damn if the writing and setting aren't fantastic.

"Do you like any games that is widely hated" or "Do you like a game that is widely hated?" ?
Nonetheless, that's a pun.

All people hate this and all people love this, when they've only heard or read a few opinions. False and biased generalizations. Then there are people who like something because it's not popular. There are people who hate something because it's popular. There are people who like to like something only because some people don't.

No. I don't even know a game that is hated in a wide manner.

I've never really heard of people actively hating on games like Madden, NHL or Fifa. Even if they do, I still enjoy playing them. Classic 2 player and even fun to beat the PC with...

Also, I found myself enjoying the Matertia (Can't remember the actual name) system in X-2. As well as the CSI games...

It was definitely a polarising game, but I never actually heard of people hating it. Still, it was a slice of awesome. It's a shame Schafer made Brutal Legend though...

Final Fantasy X-2

The mechanics were closer to the classic FF setup than X was, and as such was a really enjoyable game if your into spending some time doing sidequests.

...although, you did have to turn it down during the singing cutscenes.

...ugh
Basically this, except I liked the singing :(
That and I enjoyed going back to all the places I'd been to before and seeing how they got on in my absence.

I would have to go with Mercenaries 2:World at War, allot of ppl trash the game but i actually liked it.Fuck Gamespot for naming it Most Disappointing Game.
I'm with ya man, Mercs 2 was fun as. I did find it hugely disappointing compared to the ultimare epicness of Mercs 1, but I just hung out until they released that update with cheats, so I could properly mess around and have fun with a Hind with infinite rockets. XD
BTW, it's World in Flames, not World at War.

OT: I know I'm gonna get at least a bit of flak for this, but I really liked Lair.
Not the story or missions, god no, but I absolutely loved how well the dragons were constructed and animated. The flight animations were truly perfect looking and when they released that patch for analogue control, it was genuinely fun to fly around the training areas with those gigantic beasts of burden.
If I could, I would buy the rights and IPs of Lair (I can't imagine it's going for much anyway XD) and I would make an actual awesome game out of it all. I'd personally love a massive open freeroaming gameworld where you can fly from town to town and city to city accepting jobs as a pilot, not to mention an awesome graphics engine. XD

I'm on the first page and have yet to see Final Fantasy VIII. Of course, that game is great, some people are just close-minded. . .
