The tabletop game is far too expensive for my taste. A friend of mine plays and collects Orks, he split a set of Assault on Black Reach with me 50/50 (letting me keep the Space Marines and the templates and rulebook which he already had).
I'd like to collect some Eldar, but I'm kind of short on money; to me, other board games are better value (for instance, you get 180 awesomely-sculpted miniatures with Starcraft: The Board Game, for 80$) and I'll probably buy the Dawn of War II Gold Edition when I'm feeling the Warhammer 40k itch. I'll remain vaguely interested for awhile so that, later in life, it may become a bit more of a hobby, but I don't see it in my near future.

This is my opinion as well. It's so over the top that I can't take it very seriously.Angerwing said:Basically this. Everything about it is so deliberately "OMG EPIC" it loses its flair.ciortas1 said:No, too over the top for my likings.
Dawn of War is really awesome, but the universe itself isn't interesting to me in the least.
When every single thing in the universe is on a massively epic scale, massively epic things have no actual appeal. It's way too over the top.
