I dont like the people that say "use the search bar", but seriously, Use the fucking search bar. Like I say in every thread, no, its well done comedy where he overexagerates the flaws of a game

Nope, for a lot of his reasons I can whole heartedly agree, and his Demon Souls review was no less exactly how I remember first playing that game. I can disagree with some games, like Devil May Cry and Bioshock, but he definately has a good reason for hating these games.

at the end of the day your allwasy going to have a disacreement with a reviewist

for example i quite liked Wet and Darkest of days

but in his reveiws yahtzee said he dosant

and while he does make some true points about them that pissed me off during gameplay

(like only being able to use one gun unless your in midair)

i think that you need to keep your own oppinion, dont be afraid to try new games and dont let your oppinion be changed by somone else

although yahtzee is the bomb

Each to their own. He's a reviewer doing his job and part of that is to keep audiences coming. You can't have half assed opinions when it's your job to give an opinion.

No, I take them as the absolute truth. Infact, I have written down his gaming words of wisdom into a bible form, which I keep next to my photo of him, in the woods, under my shrine to Yahtzee - surrounded by the limp, rotting bodies of the squirrels I sacrificed last wednesday in a bid to please the almighty review God.
Yahtzee doesnt require squirrels! he wishes that we sacrifice the none belivers lol

and i agree withthe fact that its more of a comedy aspect and sure sometimes hes not that funny, but its rare and i think the mans hilarious and usually ill agree when he says a game isnt that good because im very fickle with games, but still i dont take wih with a grain of salt im here for the funny and the bit of truth

I dont even see him as a reviewer.
I donzt think he does either
Extra Punctuation seems to be where he is attempting to break out of the angry comic role and into actual game journalism. I rather enjoy the Extra Punctuation segments, as Ben has some really great observations about the industry and he doesn't easily buy into the hype and bullshit that many other reviews seem to do.

Yes, Zero Punctuation should be taken with a pinch of salt, its formula and bile and often times funny. That doesnt invalidate the truth of the argument but a good 75% of ZP is Hyperbole for the sake of humor.
Exactly, extra punctuation is where Yahtzees drips of wisdom are to be had.

(Even though alot of extra punciuation usually hints at a flaming idiot!!!!111 )

Yeah, I take yahtzee's reviews with a lot of salt. Only occasionally is he completely right on about a game. He's 75% entertainer, 25% reviewer. However, that's what I love about Zero Punctuation: It's not some ass-kissing fest by some douchebag that hopes someday he can get a job with the developers whose ass he's kissing. Yahtzee's cynical, harsh, sarcastic and that's awesome, in my mind.

Sometimes he makes a valid point, not to say that the majority of the time that same point is exaggerated for the sake of comedy. It's almost like the Daily Show with Jon Stewart, there's truth in it but stand back because it's supposed to be funny.
actually the daily show is fairly accurate, but it is heavily sarcastic, whereas yahtzee takes the little problems in a game and exaggerates them... i usually agree with his complaints but i think he judges some games too harshly... he also expects too much out of some games bayonetta is clearly designed purely to have the player beat the crap out of bags filled with red jello by a scantily clad woman,, those aren't good games, they're just entertaining games... i actually usually agree with him on his judgements on how good a game is, but i usually disagree in terms of how entertaining it is

He will generally show whether or not he likes the game, on purpose or not, but greatly exaggerates both sides for comedy's sake.

I do take him with a grain of salt. Really, Yahtzee mostly just makes fun of small things that we already notice. I typically keep an open mind and just enjoy them for what they're worth, and not for their faults (unless these flaws really ruin the experience).

Very little, most of the time he is accurate pointing out the flaws and most of the time I try to find out if it is really true.

He's got a point plenty of times, but never base a game buying decision solely off him, otherwise I would have missed Mirror's Edge, Brutal Legend, and Red Faction: Guerilla, some of my favorite games. He sometimes takes minor things to seriously and gets overlooks things I really enjoyed.

In all honesty he's a comedian, not so much a game reviewer. Talking smack is what he does and why we listen to him at all.

Definitely. Although his reviews are entertaining, I would never buy or not buy a game based on his advice. He's just way too negative, and I've really enjoyed a lot of the games he's apparently despised or only thought to be mediocre.
