I'm not comfortable with it, this game may very well be worth all the years of waiting we were put through, or, it could be just like any other FPS like the way Yahtzee put it in his video. Or.. it could very well be so bad, it'd be the way E.T. for the Atari was like so many years ago.

I don't know guys, I'm really nervous about this, post your feedback and feelings about this, we won't know till it actually sees the light of day, if it ever will. It could get delayed AGAIN, who knows. But post anyway what your feelings are.

It's been over a decade, it WILL fail. They hype it has to live up to is extremely unreasonable. My final sentece shall be as such. Good bye Gearbox, I was hoping for another Borderlands but now that you will be going under, I guess Borderlands 2 will never exsist.

Wy are you nervous about a videogame? Just don't set expectations.

If you expect it to be good because it took 12 years, you'l be dissapointed no matter what. Don't forget that for about.... 10 of those years, the game was dropped and dead, so 12 years of devellopment have not gone into the game.

I think it will be semi-successful
Lots of people will probably buy it just because its Duke Nukem Forever finally coming out and so will i.
but i don't think it will live up to a lot of the hype but will be a decent game

...I'll most likely get it just for more Jon St. John ad-libs. Duke's random manly one-liners absolutely make that series.

But yeah, it will most likely sell fairly well, what with being a nigh-legendarily famous IP.

It doesn't matter if it lives up to the hype. Hype gets copies sold, that's all that matters.

I'm nervous not for the game but for the current development teams involved, left to pick up the pieces, it could be very costly for them, so costly they'll drop under and we'll have lost another studio. One that really shouldn't die that way. Those are my current feelings.

Ok, "As bad as E.T."? Really? Also you can't really delay the game if it has no set release date yet. When did Yahtzee ever talk about DNF that wasn't in a snarky "Oh their closed now" tone in his videos? Also, enough of the "IF it ever sees the light of day" horse shit. Gearbox is a very responsible company and the DNF team are very clear of what they're trying to create now. They've been speeding down the development track since late '09 and early '10, people.

Overall, it all hinges on how the marketing plays out. Good marketing = Lotsa sales. Bad or meh marketing = Less sales and most of which come from the hardcore Duke fans.

Remember, disappointing =/= bad. Overall I think it will be a success, at least for Gearbox. George Broussard will still be fucked financially after this whole thing, no matter how well it does, but I think he's known that for a while.

I think the sales will be modest, but no where near record breaking. The market is flooded with games just like this and possibly done better. Still, Duke Nukem will always mean something to gamers so buying the game may show signs of nostalgia rather than OMGWTFBBQ Graphics and/or gameplay.

I just don't want Gearbox's reputation destroied.

It will sell to the nostalgic, but I really don't think that now, with all the Call of Duty lovers, it will sell reasonably well, and it certainly won't live up to it's 12 year hype anticipation. Nothing ever survives overhype.

Successful? Absolutely. Provided the guys who worked on it for over a decade werent simply sitting with their thumbs up their asses. A well made game does a lot to undo a lot of disappointment.

Will it live up to its hype? Not a snowballs chance in hell. Honestly I forsee a large portion of the fanbase rejecting it simply for no other reason than resentment over the better than a decade wait.

Thing of it is.. I kind of doubt it will be truly sucessful. The reason being, is games change a LOT in 10 years, and honestly what was acceptable 10 years ago, really wont fly now. From the teaser videos I have seen, it really feels like the game is rooted in 1999 ideologies with 2009 level graphics. I just dont see that going over very well.

Not nearly successful enough. It may have been building hype for twelve straight years, but with how much money that must have been spent during those twelve years, there is no chance in hell that they can get that much money back.

Hype? What Hype? In my experience, not many seem to have gigantic expectations seeing as the game has been in development so long. I think it may almost be in more danger of being overlooked as a curiosity due to its legendary development time than to suffer from gigantic hype backlash. Although i could be very off base here

I didn't really mean the E.T. part, sarcasm of course is hard to understand through text. I have never played a game created by Gearbox, they don't create games I find interesting but I don't doubt them in their quality. They'll do a good job, but still, you don't know, I don't know, no one knows yet. I'm not getting my hopes up on it.

You have to realize that the game hasn't actually been in development for 12 years.

Other than that, it should be OK, at the very least

Most people fully realize 3Drealms did the bulk of the work. Even if it's awful, and I doubt it will be, I can't imagine many will blame Gearbox. If anything people will be thankful Gearbox finally got the damn thing out.

I think it will do fine. Will it unseat CoD or WoW or Halo? Of course not but neither would Jesus. Gauging the success of games by their ability to overtake long-established franchises with huge fan bases is not only retarded but completely unreasonable.
