I just had the greatest idea ever:
The next DOA will feature models of Robert Pattinson/Jacob-that-werewolf-guy/insert-teenage-pretty-boy-du-jour-look-alikes, wearing nothing but incredibly tight hot pants with a jiggling bulge, the maturity meter will adjust size and jigglyness of the bulge.
And the taunts at the beginning / the end are variyn forms of pelvic thrusts, Magic Mike-style.
Money right there.

I never said that, but I am interested in looking at your claims of evidence now that you've made a point of it. So by all means don't hold back, oblige me.

What I was doing before you rushed to attack me, was refuting the snide remarks that the long term demographical decline of the Japanese population is in any meaningful way informed by factors outside that of gender equitable education and access to modern family planning methods, which have been disastrously combined with an immigration policy that can only be described as xenophobic.

I think those are definitely attributing factors but my friend is at the UN university in Tokyo and he is often shocked by how women are treated and it makes him very angry at times, he is Anglo-Chinese. There is a definite atmosphere of sexism in Japan and even with cultural boundaries I do not think that's acceptable.

I provided a link between sexually objectifying material and sexual assault in my original link. A researcher found that 49% of those men who admitted their crime to officers said they had watch sexually objectifying material beforehand and it contributed to their offense. While that doesn't show that it's the main factor it does show that it's a factor. The same researcher quotes a study that was on Japanese university age men showing them different types of porn. Those that were shown the aggressive 'faked' non consensual sex showed tendencies towards saying rape is okay and 'the woman likes it anyway' when questioned straight afterwards.

While I don't think porn should be banned I do think it's a factor in sexual assault and people should be careful about how they portray women in the media. Objectification definitely has a detrimental effect on women's lives not least telling them how they 'should' look. Just look at Anorexia that illness is inexorably linked throughout history with the public's perception of women and body image. I mean come on guys this shit is making us ILL.

There are plenty of women in Warhammer no one has an issue with - like Inquisitor Vail, any of the all-female IG Divisions, any number of Eldar Farseers, etc.

We're just pikcing on her for choosing the faction whose primary tactic consists of running at the enemy yelling "HERETIC!" and "FOR THE EMPEROR!" with little regard for sound battle tactics, personal safety, or how badly they may be screwing over their allies.

I mean, nevermind the fact that I can cite several females in gaming that are represented very, very fairly. Trishka from Bulletstorm comes to mind. The new iteration of Laura Croft, not-quite-rape-scene aside, seems to be a fair representation as well. But besides all this, why is this a problem? What in the hell is inherently WRONG with female characters looking attractive? Should only ugly characters be allowed in games? Perhaps we should skip the argument entirely and only allow ourselves to play as aliens?

Nobody ever explains this. I mean, yeah, I've heard ONE argument as to WHY this is a problem, that it forces young girls to conform to an unrealistic depiction of who they should be. Ok, and Kratos is doing the same thing to young boys, 90% of which will be overweight and out of shape by 30 if they're lucky. What's the point? Do you really think more than one girl in a couple MILLION feels like, because her tits are smaller than Laura's, she's somehow less of a woman than everyone else? I mean, is this really why we're trying to ensure that the other 99% of us enjoy a game a little less, so one little girl somewhere who clearly has no self-esteem anyway can feel a little better? Really?

If so, I say fuck the little girl. If she can't handle it, too fucking bad. I am not giving up something that I and several million other people enjoy just so that the way-the-fuck-less-than-even-statistically-important minority can feel a little better about themselves.

Now can we either come up with a better, LOGICAL reason why this is a problem in the first place, or else just drop it and give them all a D cup?

That's just it though, it's not a problem. It's an issue because some people think it should be a problem. The bottom line is that sexy characters sell videogames, just like they sell albums or movie tickets or absolutely anything else. The media industries are selling escapism, nobody wants to spend their leisure, gaming, viewing time looking at normal people.

I think this all comes down to the fact that some women can compartmentalise gaming and sex and some men can't .

I mean I would think a man running around in a little speedo would be fucking stupid. I'm not joking I do because it would make the entire game ridiculous. It wouldn't turn me on it would make me laugh.
