I'm with the "who gives a fuck" team on this one.
So it's not a realistic depiction of women? Yes, I knew that. Thanks. Nor is Gordon Freeman a "realistic and representative" example of a theoretical physicist, but you don't get legions of whiteknighting girls lining up to berate Valve about that, do you?
We're talking about VIDEOGAMES here. You know, those make-believe fantasy worlds where the limits of believability are routinely stretched to breaking point for the benefit of gameplay. We're dealing with fantasy lands where jumping from a building deals minimal damage (if any), eating mushrooms makes you double in size, gunshot wounds are instantly healed by walking over medi-kits, and dying is a minor irritation that happens multiple times a day. It's not MEANT to be realistic.
Oh, but it's horribly sexist, apparently? Is that really such a big deal? To put this in perspective: Rockstar is currently developing its fifth instalment of its critically acclaimed pedestrian-squashing and prostitute-murdering simulator, and real-life conflicts are being trivialised for the sake of entertainment on an ongoing basis in the CoD and Battlefield franchises. And we're expected to grind our teeth and bewail the inclusion of a few digitally-enhanced, bouncing titties?
This is a storm in a teacup. Or should that be D-cup? Ho ho.
Captcha: eat your vitamins. So we grow nice and big, eh?
