Wasn't optimistic as the start, as I usually hate frame narrative set-ups, but thankfully that was only relevant in the first act, and was made entirely appropriate with the brilliant constant time switching. The inconsistencies did get mildly annoying for me, but I really really enjoyed it. The "I'll exist If I'm remembered" thing really pissed me off in Season 3, as the way it was executed was just so damn hokey, but I was fine with it here as it made sense and wasn't oversold.
Amy's constant attempts to kiss The Doctor wound me up too, although I'm hoping that will cut out next season. I'm worried they'll reintroduce River and there'll be some almost romantic competition between the two, and if The Doctor starts feeling something for River, then Amy will finally focus more on Rory. Which wouldn't be fair on Rory (a character I'm becoming increasingly fond of, so glad he's back, even though I thought he'd died again in the blitz).
Really enjoyed it, and can't wait for Christmas. Too long to wait, although I didn't think this series was that consistent, when it was good it was absolutely terrific. And Gaiman's writing an episode? Even more pumped now for whatever adversary and scenario he could devise. Ah well, birthday soon so I'll be able to bear it by picking up some of the previous series, and some of the classic stuff. And maybe even a toy sonic screwdriver.
Also, loved the fez. Groaned at the geronimo. Give it up already.
Don't quite get why The Doctor had to be the one to start Big Bang 2 though, I mean, couldn't fake Rory do it? And I wish there was a slightly more sophisticated emotional approach taken to Amy's affection for a duplicate, perhaps a bit complicated for younger watchers but I reckon it was doable in what was already admittedly a very very content heavy episode.
