Well, it sounds like you've never really gotten into it. To each his own, whatever.

Speaking of, End of Time part 2 did a MUCH better job than part 1. I baw'd so hard.
Now, Supernatural... Supernatural is an awesome show.
Yeah, you can leave now.
Can't accept a show better than Dr. Who :O

Yeah, I'll leave now.
No, we can accept many shows are better than Who (though possibly not aimed at that age audience, namely 12 and under). The Wire, The West Wing, The Singing Detective, South Park, even Buffy, to name but a few off the top of my head. But Supernatural? Give us a break.
Well watching a cat die is better than Doctor Who, in my eyes.
Well obviously, you think Supernatural is better. If I was made to sit though more than one episode I would applaud a dying cat.
Right this has to stop. Let's agree to disagree.

And also that some Anime shows are a billion times better than the real thing.

Decent episode, couldn't help but notice some pretty stupid retcons throughout.

Also, this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-wiu-JYdeNc - comes to mind.
Nuclear Radiation is more serious than X-ray radiation (forgot the exactly name) if they fired nuclear radiation at you to get an X-ray you'd be stone dead. Plus nuclear radiation hangs about for aaaaaaaaaaaaaages... Take Chernobyl for example.

But yeah, great episode looking forward to the next series :)

no your right x-rays are just x-rays. Nuclear Radiation however is divided into alpha beta gamma and neutrino gammas the worst but x-rays can still be pretty bad when you have high powers or intensities and it depends on distance and loads of factors. Don?t try and pick holes in doctor who plots and pseudo science we will be here all night

ot: yeah not to sure about matt smith he look odd for the role.

but yeah total physics geek lol

Well, i thought it was quite good. I really wish the
time lords had returned though. They were so cool and Timothy Dalton is awesome
And i'm not too sure on this new guy. From his brief 20 seconds he just sounded like was trying to imitate david. Hopefully i will be proved wrong and he will bring his own flavour to the character of the Doctor.
The same thing happened when David Tennant came in. He acted vaguely like Christopher Eccleston for about 20 minutes. Overall though, my inner fanboy had me squealing like a schoolgirl. Here are some of my favourite moments:

Was freaking Rassilon. Did not see that coming. Makes a lot of sense though if you think about it

Was it just me or was the moment immediately after the Doctor closed the path hilarious? You know:

"I'm alive!"
*Knock, knock, knock, knock*
"... FUCK!"

Not in those words obviously, but still hilarious.

Judging from the Woman that Wilf and the Doctor saw, she will either be Romana, River Song or Susan Foreman. Calling it right here.

Fuck David Tennant, I'm going to miss The Master.

He's a bit like The Joker of Doctor Who. Better actually, he has awesome theme music.

The Master <3

I hope they do the thing they do with the Daleks every year or two with him and bring them back even though there's none of them left.

I want Bernard Cribbins as the new assistant!
Bernard Cribbins was great as well in this episode, but I'm quite happy with the new assistant as they are...:)

As for Matt Smith, time (and at least a full episode) will tell. So far, his doctor seems rather childlike in his enthusiasm and more than just a little bit off the wall. We only have until spring this year to wait, so we should find out soon enough.

Right I have watched this, it suffered from several problems. really really shoddy pacing, over emotion, a radiation cubicle with a gap in the bottom under the door and the door didn't go all the way to the frame on either side!

regeneration is not like death, hence the term regeneration. That was just an excuse for Russel T to write some of his proper drama, it smacked of an audition piece to prove that he can still write other things other than kids scifi shows which are still regarded with derision in the BBC despite it being one of their biggest earners.

The whole story could have been told in one hour and a half special, the exposition and set up of the first episode could have been done in the first five minutes with little lost.

But it did have Bernard Cribbin's and the timelords return was a pretty good notion. I enjoyed it, it just didn't hang as well as it should

Oh and finally is homoerotic double entendre really a good thing to put in a family friendly tea time show?

Haven't done Physics for a couple of years so I forgot all the little things :p

(Ex Physics Geek)

I think Matt Smith will do fine I mean David Tennant was quite a step forward from Christopher Eccleson, so a new production team, new logo, new Doctor, new assistant... it should be interesting and there seems to be a few blasts from the past throughout the series, will be good to get a new series on the go again, gonna miss David Tennant all the same.

Family show. Not family-friendly show, family show. Big difference here. Are the Angels family-friendly?

My god people like you annoy me. Constantly whining about details that don't even matter. Yes there was a gap under the door. So what? Aliens don't exist either. It's not grounded in reality. I'm pretty sure you'd have whined that it was rushed if they'd made it an hour and a half special with the summary of the first part in five minutes. And as for the homoerotic double entendre... My god. What kind of kids have you seen that would pick up on that and say "Well mother I don't think that's appropriate. Here I am pretending to be a dinosaur and he's implying sodomy"

Grow up.

Good point about realism. In the Whoniverse, you've basically got Cthulhu going around and breaking people's windows. And I am not speaking metaphorically!

Well, it took me a full season to get over Eccleston and come to love Tennant... This is going to be a long year.

I already don't like Smiths' face. >:|

God bless people who recorded it in HD and posted it on the internet commercial free (what you actually expect me to wait for it to play here in the states on the 2nd?)

On to the fanboy crying now

/sob I want david tenant back, I was choking back mega tears when he screams "But I don't want to go!"

This new guy ain't got a chance, his face looks like it was beaten with a tire iron and his voice still cracks like he's in puberty. Suppose we'll just have to suffer through at the least 1 season of this guy trying to imitate Tennant's acting

(my opinion is slight biased and filled with fanboy anger since Tennant was my first Doctor, so do take it with the prescribed grain of salt)

And it gave us Daleks. One of the most iconic villains of sci-fi and something that has remained utterly terrifying for nearly 40 years. Forget Xenomorphs, Terminators, Bugs, Prawns, Reavers, Predators and the rest, Doctor Who makes the monsters to be scared of.

Edit: To summarise: Yes, sometimes it's crap. But that doesn't matter because it's AWESOME.
I like Dr. Who, and while I admire its an alien that doesn't look like a guy with a rubber forehead, the Dalek's are hardly scary. In fact, any bad guy who runs around yelling "Exterminate! EXTERMINATE!" is more silly then scary. Oh, and they have plunger hands.
But they have no face, nothing recognisably human. They're as un-humanoid as you can get, and they hate everything that IS humanoid. They're not driven by anything so understandable as hunger or instinct, they honestly believe that as a species we deserve to die. And they will never stop coming. Ever.

And if that distorted warped voice doesn't scare you, you have a heart of stone.

I want to watch it, but it doesn't come on for a while in the US yet, and I'm stuck with insomnia after watching "Blink", so I'm on a standby for watching new episodes until daytime. Damn Steven Moffat and his ability to make the stupidest ideas terrifying...

This thread is full of them. If you want to spoil it...read.

I guess I'll have to put in the extra effort...if you can call it effort.

And n'aww, you remembered :p
