Just to make sure there is no racism, they should have Yao Ming play Bilbo. Btw, why are they not done making this movie yet? I demand instant gratification.

I loved the first one.

Second one was terrible.. except for the part that Optimus Prime kicked ass.

Hate's a strong word, but they weren't good movies by any means.
HATE is the only word that can define the atrocity. My childhood was DESTROYED here.
Well, I know it's difficult, but the thing you can do is not watch it.

It's not canon or anything, if you like the franchise, why should you care?

Really, if your childhood is DESTROYED by a loud, stupid adaptation of a series you once liked, maybe you shouldn't be watching adaptations at all.

OT: I've only seen the first one... It was kind of alright. Certainly not Bay's best, but fairly enjoyable nonetheless.

I like all of the action sequences, but I hate the terrible jokes, terrible acting, and terrible stereotypes.

first one was ok, bordering good.. a solid 2 and a half stars out of 5.. second one: a friend of mine put it best - "i didn't pay to see it.. i didn't pay for the bandwidth.. someone else downloaded it, and gave it to me on a flash drive. I watched it, at work, getting paid, and i feel ripped off" I'd be so very happy if the start of the third, they kill off next to every human, and focus on the transformers. You know, the ones who's name makes the title of the movie!

Yeah, they were pretty awful. There were a couple cool sequences, but nothing that real movies should be made of.

I don't "hate" them, but I don't like them either. I watched 2, and don't think I'll ever watch another sequil though.
As far as liking it goes: I don't think it's a good transformers movie in any sense of the word, but it IS:
Lots of cool cars!
Lots of BIG explosions!
Lots of GIANT robots!

those alone make it like-worthy

I actually like them both pretty equally, though I think I prefer the first a little more.

Didn't really see anything really super bad about the second one. I mean sure, the jokes just didn't work for me, would have liked to see the Twins be in the background instead of getting some spotlight, didn't like that some characters from the first didn't return, felt that Devestator was given too little screentime, some action scenes were hard to follow, too many new Autobots/Decepticons, and hated how the film ends right as the final battle is over and just stops there.

Sure, its a lot to complain about, but it didn't really make me hate the films. Was actually surprised how many people hated the films now because of the second one. You know, those people who say the franchise is ruined after one bad film and proclaim that the film before it also sucked? I mean, I can understand hating one of the films, but the whole franchise because of it? To each his own I suppose.

Through it all, I'm glad I saw the films. Sure, the second one was pretty underwhelming, but hey, don't really mind it too much.

Other than the combat, the second was pretty much crap. However, I think the first is a great movie, primarily because there is FAR less shitty comedy and the whole plot line with the soldiers kicks ass as well as it having a great soundtrack. And it becomes an excellent movie when you fast-forward through all the parts involving Megan Fox and Sam's parents.

It seems like every member of the Escapist has a strong hatred towards Michael Bay's Transformer movies, and while I understand they are not the greatest interpretation of the series, I wouldn't call them garbage. So Escapist does anyone actually like these movies or are they just that awful.
The first one was Great in my opinion. It made Megatron something to fear...

The second movie just turned him into a wussy (Despite killing Optimus in a beastly way), but the way the decepticons refer to him in the first one doesn't coincide with how strong he is in the 2nd.

They all called him Lord Megatron and rightfully so, but the moment the bring in the Fallen, Megatron just loses all bit of fearfulness he had about him and I was exteremely pissed to see him just get beat down like that in the end of 2.

Fanboy stuff aside, 2 was just..eh. Idiotic. It pulled one of the most Bullshit "Deus Ex Machinas" of all time (Aside from Superman 4) and that's with Sam's death around the end and him being transended to some kind of Robot limbo of all the Primes saying they were waiting for him to enact it and then bring him back to life....yeeeeeeeeeeah I call BS! Why didn't they just ressurect Prime seeing as how he was one of their own and probably had a better connection with the previous primes than sam did?!? It just didn't make sense.

Finally it was just Boom Boom Robot Fight, Sex Joke, Obligatory Oompah Loompah cameo then Fight Fight Anti-climactic climax.

I don't think I hate any of Michael Bay's movies, as they are just simply there. They are shallow, dumb, but can still be entertaining if you're in the mood for it. Plus, it's a movie based on a Hasbro toy. How high were people's expectations to begin with? But as I said before, it's not a love it or hate it type film for me. It's background noise, a time-killer, something I might shut off my brain and just look at after a strenuous day.
