Wow, I thought the reality shows we had were bad...
Ya, this crosses the line. It's like a reality show that sends letters with baking soda in them to government officials. Uh, please don't do that Japan...

I think we found something else to file in the "Oh Japan" folder, allthough this was sickly amusing.

his face was great and it was all fun until the blokes went in with guns and then pointed one at him and tried to shoot him. i know it was all staged and they weren't going to actually shoot him but it's a bit too much

Cant wait for the final episode when one of the pranksers gets killed by some 'victim' who tries to defend himself.

It was worth it just to see his face :3

EDIT: In all seriousness, was he aware that he was being filmed, etc?
Of course not! Japanese prank shows are RIDICULOUSLY mean.

Does this go over the line? Not anymore than any OTHER Japanese show I've seen.

I wish we could do things like this in America...

...On second thought, then you might have someone drawing their concealed carry and stuffing themselves in a corner... Which could also be entertaining.

That was fucking hilarious.

I wish I could understand Japanese.
Stop slacking and learn it then?

As for the clip...well, as long as you make sure they've not got any issues like heart conditions which could be set off by the shock, I don't think it's a big deal. Humiliating? Yeah, a bit. But I bet that if you asked people, 99.99% (that's repeating of course) would say that they'd act in pretty much the same way.

Don't really mind this. Japanese have always taken their shows to the next level above (and often far below) what us Westerners will do.
No. 99.99...% would ACTUALLY react that way. I think only about 50% would admit it though. The other 50% would be "I'd totally punch that guy in the face."

Ok. I actually did some digging "IE read comments on the blog page" and it turns out the guy's a pro comedian in japan. According to one of the commenters who has basic cable over there, Comedians there are constantly doing this to each other, pranking and scaring each other for entertainment. This guy in the vid has a 4chan meme already from previous times of him making that 'panic face' and Im sure he realized soon into it it was a prank (again) and went along with it. I repeat he was not a random dude off the streets.

See what happens when we stop passing judgement instantly and do 3 minutes of research (comment reading)?
I don't want to hear anymore griping from you gripers now, America's scare-tactics takes innocent people off the streets. Now start laughing like you should've from the beginning.

I think this bears repeating since it seems not many people bothered to read it.
Frankly, I don't think it matters.

I want to say this crosses the line, i really do, but the face he made was just too priceless....

I think the first bit was funny when the sniper shot but the second bit when the gun man came in was taking it too far, that should of been the presenter coming in to tell him it was a joke not the gunmen making the guy cry.
Indeed

WE NEED MORE REALITY SHOWS LIKE THIS!

seriously, this was hilarious, damn Japanese television having hilarious and wacky shows.

then again, America would probably crap itself, with the whole Washington sniper case a few years back and whatnot.

though, I loved it when the shot rang out when he was near the door. priceless.
Yes This would beat the crap out of what America calls reality TV. What we have is pathetic. Though I agree that most of the population would not be able to handle it.

I hate reality TV in its current state.

For those that don't know: the "businessman" is a well-know Japanese comedian. They didn't just pick some random guy off the street as the article suggests.

Also, as reality shows like this are pretty common, most popular comedians know they are going to be on the bad end of a prank like this eventually.

I knew that was over the line when I watched but I couldn't stop laughing.

My sense of humour is all kinds of fucked up.
