This just goes to show that certain Americans living in Texas are a bunch of cruel, gun-totting idiots. Whos idea was it to make a kangaroo kick-box? What's next, a dancing bear? What the fuck.
Not even many Texans act like that. I don't think I've ever seen a stereotypical Texan. It's unfair to stereotype.

After finding out that this was America's doing, I am most displeased. Abusing animals is wrong no matter what the creature, I sure as shit wouldn't be surprised to see an Australian go toe-to-toe with a Bald Eagle to see our reaction. Just Ridiculous. It was Texass though... So that's not surprising either.

theres a time and a place mate
I think you missed the point. Looney Toons cartoons, especially the older ones, played heavily on stereotypes.

Couldn't they have done something more fun? If they're going to abuse animals, at least do something creative.

Not that I support it or anything, I'm just saying. Just because you're a douche doesn't mean you have to be an unoriginal douche.
The article was a bit scant on details, dont get me wrong I voted no.

The simple fact they're willing to do that to any animal, national symbol or otherwise, is horrific. I'm glad the poll is currently at 75% saying it should be banned from being done.
Exactly my thought. It's disgusting to do this (or anything even remotely like it) to any animal.

If I were anyone else, I'd make a comment about loosing faith in humanity (or making a joke about never having any in the first place)

But that would imply what these people did was 'human'

That was monstrous

I really, really hope they get horribly mutilated in some heavy industrial accident, and bleed out slowly.

Funny how I don't support the death penalty unless an animal is involved

It's one thing to interact with animals, having them jump through hoops, sit, roll over, backflip, whatever. The animal in question recognises the ringmaster's command, and obeys him or her out of its own free will.

But to have an animal (any animal, not just Kangaroos) forced into obedience via restraints is cruel beyond belief. I always feel that way when I see guide dogs; however useful they are, training an animal as lively as a dog to do nothing but assist the blind for their entire lifespan is just deprivation of freedom. In my mind, the restriction of freedom is the defining line between companionship and slavery. This goes for humans too.

As an Aussie, I do feel a soft spot for roos (got a couple of friendly ones that hang around my back yard at dusk), but I also respect them. I never intrude upon the pack, no matter how tempting it is sometimes. To be honest, I'm surprised that most foreigners don't know how bloody deadly an angry male roo can be. Their taloned feet can actually tear out a grown man's alimentary canal (no joke), and their punches are sometimes powerful enough to break bones. Not to mention that they can occasionally weigh up to 3 times as much as an adult human, and generally hang around in groups.

I'd like to see that bastard's face if he goes toe-to-toe with an unrestrained adult male roo...

Oh hey, the animal cruelty games!

See, this is why I'm disgraced to live in America sometimes. I think these people and the Westboro Baptist Church should join forces and create one big orginization of assholes.
