Yeah... This really can't be the whole story, a large fraction of the police force can't just go ape shit for no reason....

Our cops are just the opposite. When the Redfern riots occurred, they had to just stand there and take a pounding, like getting bricks and molotov cocktails thrown at them.

I live in Pittsburgh, and the riot police did exactly that during the G20 protests. Several of my friends were beaten or gassed (including 2 resident assistants, who are employed by the college) for trying to get back in to their dorms so they could avoid the protesters. The riot cops gassed the lobby of one of the dorm buildings for no reason at all, students WHO LIVED THERE were just standing around talking (and the cops hadn't issued any orders to disperse).

There's also video of people who work for a local newspaper who were filming one of the riots from one of the outdoor staircases that accesses one of our academic buildings being surrounded by riot police at the top and bottom, gassed, beaten, and not allowed to leave. Please tell me how filming something from a significant distance away and 3 stories up is justification for this kind of police behavior?

Sigh.... I guess governments need to be mindful of who they give authority and power to... I do suppose, however, that there is no way of knowing someone is a power drunk justice abuser until they DO go ape shit; you can psych-evaluate them all you want, but you won't know until shit actually goes down.

Wait, are you suggesting Fox News is accurate and without bias?

Oh, that's nice. People opposing the war in Afganastan, coming from a Marine Corps family, hearing that makes me want punch a hole in the fucking wall in my room. That ***** deserved to be tackled into a light pole. No, you now what? Fuck the people who oppose the war, when americas' men and women are taking rounds from pussies hiding in caves. GOD DAMMIT! Why the hell to idiots like this say stuff like that, oh yeah, that would be smart, let the Taliban win, that would do some FUCKING good. I don't even care if I get probation for this. Fuck the people calling the U.S military facits, fuck the taliban and fuck anyone who opposes freedom in the middle east! AGH!
Freedom in the middle-east... Dude... There hasn't been so much fighting in the middle east since the Americans went in there and fucked it all up. Their so called "War on Terror" isn't so much a misnomer as blatant propaganda vomited up from the depths of the Bush administration to be gobbled up by deluded red necks such as yourself. And those "pussies hiding in caves" happen to be men defending their homeland from brutal and suppressive invaders, with little reason to be there in the first place, and none to be there still now.

EDIT: Sorry, I didn't read through the whole thread before posting this, to be honest. I merely noticed his comment and saw red somewhat.

Wow, that's horrible. But no, my city isn't bad. In fact, we're really quite good- you should see our Gay Pride Parade. There are quite a few friendly cops there. ;p
Are you from montreal? Haha
Toronto, actually. But Montreal is a very nice place too. Although I'm pretty sure the French Canadians sneer at English ones when they're not looking..

Hmm, I was wondering why your against the war.
You mind not starting a flamewar and rather, post a viable argument. All you've been doing is stating things with no evidence or good examples. Here's another argument for ya, if you love the troops so much, why do you want them to be dying in a country we have no place in? It's not helping the people there, it's just destablizing it further. Our troops have become cruel to the citizens of the country aswell. One more thing, do you even see other nation's citizens as human? (No, I do not mean to offend, I'm guessing you will be offended because you've been offended by every other tame argument here.)

Who's "They"?

As for the thread, cops beating on citizens because they are protesting is completely morally incorrect and goes against their rights. For those of you who say they deserved it, do you think people deserve to be beaten and arrested for not agreeing with you? I'm disgusted that our police force is like this still.

I only start a flame war when people bash me, my family, my friends, the USMC, or women. This is no differant, I respect other peoples opinions, but when someone mocks the contry I'm in or me your damn right I'm gonna fight back. That's who I am deal with it or shut up. I didn't want to start the flame war in the first place, but he apparently dosn't like right wing people who support the war and that's on him. I just want this flame war to end as much as you.
Why not back up your opinion then without the use of threats and harsh language? It proves nothing and is overall pointless. I wouldn't call what Goru-somthing said 'bashing', it was harsh-ish in the beginning, but the rest was opinion. And this "Flame war" is being run by you right now. You can end it at any time.

Sorry, it's just my mentality, I'm a fighter, but that's beside the point. There are three generations of milatary personal in my family, and I had just got done watching the news about how two US marines were killed by an IED in Afganastan, and I only got on here to blow off some steam and when I read this thread I just got angerier, which is the reason my first post is so vulgar, but when that person; Gorourn mocked me, I went off. Yeah it was a stupid thing to fight back with no evidance, I won't hide from that. I am an extremly patriotic person, that's how I was raised, so of course I'm going to blindly defend something I was raised to love. I'm sure you'd do the same, and FYI I'm ending this flame war now. No more arguments from me on this thread. Done. :)

I feel better now. Thanks.
Good, I really hate flame wars, it's a shitstorm of ignorance. Yes, I can see how familes have influence on family members. Marines do deserve to be praised (The non-morally questionable ones), I mean, they are out there dying for us. I just don't agree with the means of the war, why the hell do marines have to be out there in the first place? Most would say terrorism, but terrorism was a response to our meddling in the middle east. Terrorism isn't really a major killer either, we lose more to desease right now and we're spending more on war. That's what I think of all this.

I live in Dubai. Make what you will of it, I find that it can be an awesome place, and an utter shithole at the same time.

While I agree about how they shouldn't have gassed those random people doing nothing, let me point out something..

It was a RIOT. Not a protest, a riot. The RIOT police had every right to end it and when they didn't stop the police really should have done what they did. Not only that, but I doubt an unpeaceful riot is a very good place to be as a president.

And yeah, I live in Pittsburgh too.

You do realize Afghanistan doesn't have nukes, right? The infrastructure in that country is incredibly poor, thanks to constant wars and invasions (U.S., Soviet Union, the country's own warlords, for example), that they don't even have the capabilities to make one.

EDIT: Unless, you're referring to the possibility of someone from Al Queda or the Taliban getting nuclear weapons from Pakistan? That's a more realistic possibility, but it is our constant interference in the Middle East that's creating the environment for this sort of thing to happen.

Not a lot of information there, and what information there is seems terribly one-sided. Police officers aren't deranged mindless psychos (for the most part atleast), especially during such a high-profile event.

You know. You can oppose the war but still support the troops.

Whatever... The reason I'm that upset is becuase of what it use to be like just after 9/11. When no one cared what party you belonged to, what race, religon and so on. But this, this, just pisses me off when eight years ago those same people wanted to go in and kick some terrorist ass, now. My god this country is in the hole. Ugh, I just want to see my brother come back from the middle east in one peice.
I kinda wanna point out its not because people became unpatriotic and got whiney about the war, its because they people have seen what this war has done and the fact that a good, America wins ending, probably isn't likely. In war history determines the winner and the fact that we still don't have any idea how many of the terrorist are still left. I don't know about you guys but i'm seeing this war to be the Vietnam or my generation.
