I personally think that it's a great trailer. I loved the grittiness, especially the way the MC swings his sword and stabs his enemy in the head. The music fits the mood of the game.

Why not use Carmina Burana music instead, or some other epic theme of might?
I have two problems with this. First, the use of O Fortuna (the song most people think of when they hear Carmina Burana) has been used to death. I love the song and all, but it is derivative. Second, the song has nothing to do with might. It's a guy pining after a girl named Fortuna.
Was just using it as an example since it is one of the more iconic scores for epicness.

What? "This is the new shit" fits the mood of Dragon Age: Origins?

Have you've even played the game?

I actually liked that trailer on the whole. It ebbs and flows well with the music and the voice-over. Even the Marilyn Manson segment is cut competently enough, even if the lyrics are kind of distracting. The big problems is that it feels like two separate trailers smashed together with a flash cut. The first 1 minute would be a great stand alone teaser, and a longer format of the later continuing with the action framed against the white background could be interesting too.

This is such a minor gripe here people. I think there are more noteworthy things to complain about, like that michael jackson movie or something.

so basically your only complaint about this trailer is the music? that's a pretty shitty reason to call it the worst RPG trailer ever :/

as a side note i really liked all the CG DR:O trailers.

Never liked Marilyn Manson, but I thought that trailer wasn't half-bad.

I think that it suits how violent the trailer is and how violent the combat is in the actual game. Some of those finishing moves are pretty brutal......

Eugh, Marlyn Manson is a posing bastard, his music stinks.

If you're going to make a trailer like that, get a song like this.

Or to make it sad, and to show that the bloodshed shouldn't be applauded, use this.

It's an RPG. A fantasy RPG. Since when is rock related to a fantasy RPG?

What? "This is the new shit" fits the mood of Dragon Age: Origins?

Yes, I have put more than 50 hours into it.

The song is brutal and straightforward, just like the game.

But the lyrics of the song has nothing to do whatsoever with the game.

The mood of DA:O being explained as simply "brutal and straightforward" doesn't do the game much justice.

I think a rock song would fit an RPG like Mass Effect honestly. I don't hate this trailer but BioWare could have done better.

Then again, the music fits well until the end when you actually hear Marilyn Manson sing.

I like that Dragon Age trailer. I mean, TODAY, I do. I've finished the game, experienced the story, etc..

But rewind a couple of months, to before I really knew that much about the game. What did I think when I first saw the trailer? I thought it was kind of uninteresting, really. It does misrepresent the game, and on me it had the opposite of the desired effect.

I can't put words in the mouth of its creator, but I feel that's precisely the point. It's the juxtaposition of a fantasy RPG with a modern rock song. It's a method that been used a number of times to lesser or greater effect even in video game trailers. A few examples - the first is probably the best and actually won a number of awards for it's excellent usage of mixing two forms of media with very different tones.
