Not specifically regarding Halo, but can anything leave on a high note like Seinfeld anymore?

Did anyone else think that looked less like "some kind of jump gate" and more like Unicron? It would certainly explain how that planet from 3 disappeared before the ship could smash into it.

Three questions come to mind.
What's going to be the main enemy? How far in the future is it supposed to be from the last game? Is it going to be more Single Player focused this time or will it continue be a Multi-player focused game? AND WHY ARE THEY ON A SPACE SHIP!? Weren't they somewhere at the bottom of the ocean at the end of the last game?

Halo 3 had a perfect ending and now...
I agree it didn't have the cheesey happy ending.
You obviously didn't beat it on legendary difficulty, did you? =P

So many things wrong with this. Where did those rockets on his back come from? Why is Cortana using his name suddenly? Why are they continuing a finished story?! Halo had a good run. It doesn't need to keep on going. I suppose all we can do is hope that 343 studios are competent game makers.

Not judging right now. The trailer looks awesome, but then most trailers look awesome, so I'll wait until gameplay or story revelations.

And you know what? I'll probably buy it. I'm a fan of long running series until they completely destroy themselves and I'm not going to trust the internet's opinion on this one at all, instead I'm going to decide for myself. I have no idea what this new studio can do and for all I or anyone knows they could be the next Valve.

I've said in the past that I wasn't so sure about continuing the Master Chief's story but then I wasn't sure about continuing the story of Star Wars characters and I love the Expanded Universe until the Legacy of the Force books.

So my attitude to this is going to be the same as my attitude towards Lara Croft and Star Wars and The Walking Dead and the Marvel Ultimate Universe. I'll read/watch/play every installment until the one that blows donkeys, and then I won't get any after that without considerable incentive. (Lara Croft so far being the only one which has ever provided enough incentive and that took three years and a complete reboot by a new developer for crying out loud.)

I thought it looked like some kind of Forerunner construct so probably a docking bay or tractor beam?

Fighting Forerunners could be interesting if that was the case.

I'm really excited for this game, and people saying that Halo 4 is being made to make money, no.

We all knew there was a possibility due to Halo 3's legendary ending.
Oh and the Halo 1 remake coming out in November shall also be awesome!

Fuck all thou that shall hate upon this game!

HAHAHAHAH! Yes, Halo fans! Now you will suffer as I have suffered! Having your favorite franchise abandoned by the developers who made it great and taken over by morons is like having a wolf eat your firstborn! Suffer! SUFFER!

*Clutches Pyramid Head action figure and glares at Silent Hill: Homecoming. Begins crying softly*

This really isn't much of a surprise. Halo is pretty much one of the few exclusives Microsoft has left(Halo and Gears of War are all I can think of), so they're bound to milk it for all it's worth.

Halo 3 had the ending of the human covenant war but NOT the story of John 117 and Cortana. You can't end a series with that. I am genuinely exited for this game because I'm sure it will be a genuinely new experience but with familiar taste.

Great. Now I need to find another friend with a 360 and the money to drop on the new trilogy. Can't wait to see how the story advances. And how could anybody be surprised by Halo 4? I mean, did we really expect the hero of the universe to go into cryo for the rest of time? Come on, man...

He didn't have a jetpack in Halo 3, who upgraded him!?
I am hoping that that was not a jetpack so much as a built in Reaction Control System alluded to in Halo Novels, being overused.
Looks like I'll have to re-read the novels; I don't remember anything about the RCS. The jetpack worried me a bit, but given that the suit was designed for use in and out of atmosphere, its presence isn't really all that surprising.
it was alluded to in the novels given the spartans ability to manuver thier own bodies gracefully in Zero Gee, and would be the only way possible for the chief to have made the drop from a covenant super carrier to "In Amber Clad" accurately.

It's sort of a fad right now, people are associating depressing endings with being more artistic than lighthearted ones.
Add to that the fact that many of the people writing these games come from the same generation that got "happily ever after" forced down their gullets at every turn so some of this might be the dam bursting for these guys.

I did think the end to 3 was pretty decent though. Rather satisfying in that he did what he had to do and was able to die with his work completed. I assume he died at least, apparently there was more to it than that, but whatever I was satisfied with what I thought happened and I rarely get an ending I really like so I don't wanna wreck it.

What about that line from Guilty Spark "You are Forerunner!"?
That would seem to imply that a Forerunners were the ancestors of Humanity if not actually just Humans.
So fighting the Forerunners would be sort of bland. Since they would probably just be something like Humans with advanced technology... and possibly entirely just dead.
Although this is all speculation and I could easily be misinterpreting that line...

Halo Games Counter:
Halo: Combat Evolved
Halo 2
Halo 3
Halo Wars (not an FPS)
Halo: ODST
Halo: Reach
Halo 4
Halo 5
Halo 6
Total: 9
...This may be becoming the Final Fantasy of FPS. =P

Oh good. A new company picks up a franchise after the original team left it to die and already are making the plot insanely contrived with the fact that it's a sequel to Halo 3 which was supposed to show THE END of the Human-Covenant war. Halo has now officially become the Sonic the Hedgehog of first person shooters.
