Need to immediately send a probe with some kind of 2 ways radio there, to make sure we can communicate (and also confirm it's habitable) and then send transport with hundreds of people there ASAP

OT: I think science is optimistic, not realistic. If ever there were a need to say, colonize another planet, poor folk like myself are fucked. If a planet with advanced civilization ever decides to invade, wealthy and powerful people can afford protection and shelter, and once again poor folk like me are fucked. Feels bad, man....

OT: When I first read the article I was reminded of what an NBC reporter said on the radio the moment before Sputnik was heard by millions of Americans.

It would be interesting to imagine what would happen if we aimed a telescope powerful enough to get a good view of the surface, and then imagine what would happen if we started seeing things move (or wave back at us).
Jesus, now we have to get there, in which there will be no or may be no petrolum products depending on the stage of life on the planet. It'll be like the 50's!
Did anyone read the article? I skimmed it tbh but all I saw was that the planet was in the right range "goldilocks zone" for life. Its not another earth like planet and these constant posts/articles are getting really old that I don't even click them most of the time anymore.
This planet is like Riddick where when the sun comes up everything burns (but not as severe)and rotates slowly, they don't know if it has water, its 3x the mass of Earth and only slightly larger, aka 3x more gravity! They don't know what atmosphere it has, and it doesn't rotate quickly.
Basically the only thing they found is that it is a planet in the right orbit range, and its mass is probably sufficient for some form of life. Thats it.
