KOTOR2 or maybe I just didn't get it.
There's nothing to get, that game had no ending.

OT: LoZ: Link's Awakening. I was quite disillusioned by that one.
So I'm left in the middle of the ocean to slowly die of dehydration or starvation, and that damn Wind Fish couldn't be bothered to give me a ride? WTF?
THAT'S what you took away from the endng to Link's Awakening?

Remember, link was never going to return to hyrule. he had one final adventure far awya from those that knew him

remember kiddies, zelda is quite dark and deoressing if you think about the subtext

anyway im gonna jump on the bandwgon and say halo 2

Um, no, I wouldn't, it was abrupt but it made sense and thus wasn't terrible at all, in fact, everything in the CoD4 campaign was very fun and immersive.

Of course, there's also Neverwinter Nights 2, which is the father of all dick moves everywhere...
HT_Black you have brought back a scar so deep... I thought I had forgotten.... but... ah....

The first and last game I ever cheated on... it was either that or set my computer on fire with a fifth of jack daniels broken and soaked in my own blood.

I played Neverwinter all the way through literally six or seven times. i played online. I waited like a prom date eager to give herself to the man I love for NWN 2 and it raped me with a baseball bat. The names Atari and Turbine still stick to my tongue like the rotted flesh of a roadkilled toad. And Turbine hasn't done much better lately with it's inability to understand that I have three of their games installed on my computer and every one uses a different version of the launcher or my computer freezes.... but, I digress.

NWN2 by far the biggest letdown in the history of gaming.... Black, you're description captures it all.

PS: I can say it's the biggest in history for the exact reason Black explained it was so frustrating: I spent 60 some hours in that game and easily 20% was load times and half of that was in the last third. And piece by piece hour by hour every good feeling and warm joyful moment I had was stripped away from me by what felt like an ad hoc team of developers that wanted to push the product out the door and get a paycheck when the daddy of the project died or something... I've never been so betrayed.

Prince of Persia: That thing that you are forced to do at the end that undoes anything you did in the game

Final Fantasy X-2 was the worst possible ending for Final Fantasy X. It ended strong then... went on for a whole new game (apparently because fan boys cried alot loudly and contantly enough for SE to decide to release a sequel).
X-2 is somethng we can all agree on, us who played FF X. It was a beautiful, ballsy, and tragic ending that i thought SE could not pull off to save its life. Then....X-2.................you know what? I denounce X-2 it didn't happen. I'll go back to the GOOD ending thank you very much.

Um, really? I thought that was one of the best parts of the game.

OT: Probably Darkest of Days, because it implied that there would be another one. *shudder*
i actually liked that game... it was way better than some "bigshot developer" made games... and more original than alot of games...

anyway on- topic... fable 2, RE5:*spoiler* Wesker'll be back... dead space, GTA 4, Prey: *spoiler* It WILL Be Back...i'll get it tho

XIII. It commits the cardinal sin of having a cliffhanger ending and no sequel to resolve it. I was so sure that the ending it gave me couldn't be the whole story that I waited through the credits to see if there was any more. Not only that but that game also has the longest video game credits I have ever seen, it took hours!
There was a sequel planned orginally, but the selling charts weren't too positive. So until now: there's still no XIII-2 or XIV in the making. It's a shame, because I really liked playing XIII.

Even taking that into consideration, I still think it was a shitty ending. Esp. since that was my reward for putting up with that stupid owl that wouldn't shut up!

I liked the gameplay of X-2 but it shouldnt have been a sequel, or even a final fantasy. Honestly, my biggest problem with X-2 was that you have to play two or three times (or once if you have no hope for normal life) just to get an ending that happens at the end off FFX anyway. FFX has tidus dive into the nothingness and boo-hoo everyone is sad. then after the end credits, we see him awaken and swim towards the besaid shore. oh! a happy ending after all. well isnt that nice

then X-2 comes out and they make you crawl under bevelle for two weeks to get the same damn thing

Condemned 2.

Started off so scary and fun, then degenerated into cliched nonsense. Sigh.

Fable 2.

Talk about getting all dressed up in kinky lingerie and falling asleep.
I couldn't agree more! Once you got the gun and yelling power in Condemned 2 it lost all its intensity and became generic.

And I'd like to add Metal Gear Solid 4. The ending had me rivetted; for about 5 minutes. Fifteen minutes later I was mainlining caffiene to remain conscious. "Holy crap Big Boss is back! Must... stay... awake..." Cut to something abstract; "Ah forget it!"
My brother argues it is one big fan service moment, but after tapping my finger off to live through microwave exposure and barely surving a brutal hand to hand fight with Ocelot/Liquid Snake/whatever the hell he is, I deserve more than to be treated to a hokey wedding goddammit!

The Revenge ending for GTA 4.

So a character only introduced for the last couple of hours of the game gets killed by a character only just introduced for the last couple of missions who turns on you for no particular reason? All of that at the end of 30 hours of gameplay.

This instead of an ending that makes sense, has some interesting themes on betrayal and its consequences and gets rid of that bloody...

I must add my voice to those objecting to the Fallout 3 and KOTOR 2 endings; they were simply incomplete or, in Fallout's case, logically absurd.

However, I don't understand the objections to CoD4's ending. Granted, it can be frustrating to find oneself in a level where there's nothing to do, no visible enemy to fight back against - but that's what made it such a powerful level. More to the point, everything leading up to that level made sense. Your escort goes down; of course you'd land and try to save her. It's realistic, and well reflects the occasional no-win futility of real warfare.

The game's actual ending... well, it was unpleasant to see such long-standing comrades executed. But the ending itself, from the explosion of the bridge to slotting Zakhaev, was well-paced and satisfying.

The post-ending plane level... It had nothing to do with the rest of the game, of course not. But it's the SAS; you have to have a plane-clearing CQB level. My one gripe with it was the time pressure - it would have been far better had it given you time to look around and enjoy it rather than pelting through it at full speed.

STARFOX ADVENTURES!

CHEAP-ASS FUCKING ENDING AS A USELESS OBVIOUS WAY TO TIE BETTER TO THE PREVIOUS GAME WHICH WE DID NOT NEED AT ALL AND WOULD PREFER A NEW VILLAIN TO FIGHT WITH.

LIKE THE ONE YOU WERE WANTING TO DEAL WITH THE ENTIRE GAME, GENERAL SCALES.
