StarCraft: Brood War.

I love the game but I can't bring myself to play the campaign because Kerrigan is just the most unstomacheable character I've ever seen in a video game.

Edit:

Call of Duty 4 also qualifies. Even more so, though, does the "ending" of the Marine act. I couldn't keep playing for quite a bit after that massive slap to my cockticles.

Master Chief, what exactly is it that you intend to do?

Sir... finish this fight.

Whoever had that idea needs executing, so does whoever decided to skip an ernormous gunfight on a alien spaceship to start Halo 3 in the crappy jungle. They're probably the asme person.
They did it because they were too busy making the multi-player to actually finish the single player on time.

Half Life 1 , 2. Dude how can u leave these 2 out i just dont understand. In the first Half Life, you killed the mother monster and for then ending you choose to sit with a scary man on the tram or face 1000 monsters.... Sheesh

In Half life 2, when u win everything freezes, man its like the matrix and the G-Man is like the black guy telling you a story
I thought they were some of the best endings ever.

POSSIBLE SPOILERS!!! for Clive Barker's Jericho

OT:pretty cool concept, you can jump around to control different squad members, dark atmosphere, was awesome to play, then at the end the last boss kills the two least important characters, puts you in a boss fight, after which, the evil guy introduced at the start of the game escapes and your squad jumps into a pool of water to escape the collapsing area and then just cuts to the credits.
That ending was really bad. I was staring at the screen when the credits started to roll, practically shouting: "This 'd better be a really bad joke, because I'm not laughing!"

Oh drat, got beaten to mentioning NWN2. God that was BAD.
I agree.. I think the whole game is a trainwreck, though. I'm biased against it though because Neverwinter Nights one was the best game I'd ever played.

Condemned 2.

Started off so scary and fun, then degenerated into cliched nonsense. Sigh.

Fable 2.

Talk about getting all dressed up in kinky lingerie and falling asleep.
I'd have to agree with both of these. That whole other half of Condemned got so stupid when he got his powers...
Indeed it did.

There needs to be a new equivalent to Godwin's law for horror and cults.

Why does it always have to be a cult?

I'm starting it. I narcissistically christen this new meme 'Miracle's Law'.

Arkham Asylum. It didn't really ruin the game, but it showed how little thought they had put in the boss battles.

Take the ending, now that we're talking about it anyway, it's like they're doing it MGS4 style, where they make lame gameplay only to give room for an epic cutscene to finish off the boss instead.

For me, Radiata Stories.
You have two endings, both are fucked up. You either destroy all of human civilization as part of some sick cycle of life on the planet just to save your girlfriend. Oh, and you are human, too, so you're dead also.

Or you side with humanity, lose a bit of depth to the game as the other storyline was better, and end up killing the girl your character loves to break the sick cycle of life on the planet. Of course this will result is the death of all other races and your character ends up living the human city all depressed.

I admire Tri-Ace for trying to make a good story, but depressing endings suck.

Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask. i suppose the ending didn't ruin the game but after such an amazing final boss the ending was a giant let down.

XIII. It commits the cardinal sin of having a cliffhanger ending and no sequel to resolve it. I was so sure that the ending it gave me couldn't be the whole story that I waited through the credits to see if there was any more. Not only that but that game also has the longest video game credits I have ever seen, it took hours!

An example: Fallout 3 before Broken Steel saved the day. There's nothing more annoying, dissatisfying, and downright stupid than playing through a whole game, only to find that you die at the end.
* SPOILER END! *
I'm guessing you're new here.

Resident Evil 4. Considering that all the bosses in the game killed me at least twice, I was expecting to get my ass handed to me by the final boss. It was a piece of cake, and then you ran away on a jet ski. Didn't completely ruin the game considering I still love it and it's one of my favorite games ever, but I felt ripped off by the final boss.

Also the endings of GTA IV.

You lose Kate no matter what you choose.
Yeah, that fecked me off to.

OT: Like many people here, Fable 2 was a poor ending no matter what one you picked.
