I think it's time we started a hardcore punk thread.

the majority of people who listen to metal say the like it because of how cathartic it is, the intensity of the music. In this person's opinion, hardcore is even more intense than metal, it's faster and louder and more crazy.

And let's not forget about grindcore, which mixes hardcore and metal to create some of the most chaotic, fast and mindblowing music out there.

oh, and im talking about oldschool hardcore, you know, the one that doesnt suck.

no, it's to discuss punk. I like metal also... it's just that i dont see many threads based on punk, while theres a ton of metal threads rampant.

Punk is a pretty vague genre, somewhat like indy.
Bands like Iron maiden, Judas priest and even Lamb of God have 'punk' elements (ie they are against society). Do you mean American 'punk' like blink 182 and millencolin? They are very different from the older 'punk' bands.
