But I like deathcore even better :(
Deathcore is the shit, I have never really adored a genre more than deathcore, it just sounds awesome, and goes together really well.

On the topic of metal and punk, it doesn't matter which is better, Tool is better than both combined.

You're sick of metal...so you make a punk thread? Damn, I was coming in hoping for, I dunno...J-pop or Ska or Symphonic music.

That would have been awesome. "Screw Dimmu Borgir and Cradle of Filth. Let's talk about Rachmaninoff and Mussorgsky!" I'd easily rate The Sacrilegious Scorn behind, say, Night on Bald Mountain.

I hate music discussions on this site, because it eventually evolves into a big Death Metal/Hardcore shit-fest. Thankfully this thread started out as it.
I've noticed that, sadly, despite my efforts to turn the discussions towards power and symphonic metal.
Then join the Headbangers [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/groups/view/Escapist-Head-Bangers]. We need moar people like you. Not just about metal, but for everything rock.

Ok, shameless plug time is over.

Give me old-school Metallica and AC/DC any day.

I'm not sure if you could really classify them as 'punk', but I do enjoy me some Smashing Pumpkins and Pearl Jam.

You're really pushing me Drow.
Shoot. In all seriousness, that was exactly the opposite of the reaction I was hoping to provoke.

...should I have suggested viking metal, instead?

Anything is fine with me as long as it sounds good. Like <url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ZkllM8znx4>this.
Hell yes.

I actually learned how to play that song on clarinet, once. Not very well, but still.

Just because you'd rather discuss hardcore punk, doesn't mean you have to bash metal. And the title is a bit misleading for hardcore punk fans.

Also, I like the Dead Kennedys.

I'm a hardcore punk man myself too. Love all the older stuff, but also some of the newer. Mainly DIY produced stuff coming from the local punk scenes around the world, not the mainstream shitspewing moneymachine. I listen to it on vinyl too, but I guess I'm a bit old fashioned ;)

Oh and BTW punk is a music genre, not when a song is "against society".

Hatebreed is a great hardcore punk band. I don't listen to too much punk because I do listen to a great deal of metal. Some grindcore and deathcore does it for me, but I really dislike most of the bands in that genre. I can only think of a few punk bands I listen to.

This shouldn't be a surprise, though, coming from a guy names fanofDEATH.

Punk as been dead since the 70s. Anything else claiming to be Punk is in fact lying until they can prove their valid Anarchistic nature. You'll never know that, however, because these "punk bands" all seem to get signed to major labels and have their music licensed for Made-for-TV children's/teens movies on Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network.

Well, I'm a metalhead myself, so Punk usually doesn't manifest itself in many appealing ways to me (see Beasty Boys). Furtheremore, it'd help if you clarified exactly what "hardcore" punk is? Do you mean like Talking Heads? Or would you rather that it be exemplified by the riffs and tones of The Mighty Mighty Bosstones?

In another point complete, why do people rag so much on modern music? Every person who claims that they are a hardcore fan of [insert genre here], also goes out of their way to make a big deal about how modern bands have butchered the genre, and all the new sub-genres that have come to be are absolute shite and a disgrace to the name of [genre name here].

Greenday is okay in moderation, MCR is likewise, Nu Metal kicks some serious ass, and anybody who badmouths songs by Alanis Morrisette is dead to me. Not sure where that last one fits into this thread, but I'm sick of people saying that she's a terrible artist just because she was writing meaningful lyrics...

Something about a man who wants a Hardcore Punk thread being made while having a picture of a smiling Poke'mon brings the phrase "Conflicting Signals" to mind. Personally I'm tired of seeing 10 new music threads a day. Let's just make a new Forum for music. Anyone else agree?
