I hate music discussions on this site, because it eventually evolves into a big Death Metal/Hardcore shit-fest. Thankfully this thread started out as it.

I've noticed that, sadly, despite my efforts to turn the discussions towards power and symphonic metal.

I like how you think sir. How about showing some love for power metal, like Rhapsody of Fire [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zHJLOGmXoUA], although I admit I know no symphonic metal bands.

Oh, also, OT: Dropkick Murphys, Rise Against, Offspring, Dead Kennedys and Greenday (specifically the early stuff) are all very good punk bands.

I strongly recommend all the above bands to everyone including the deaf.

I think it's time we started a hardcore punk thread.

the majority of people who listen to metal say the like it because of how cathartic it is, the intensity of the music. In this person's opinion, hardcore is even more intense than metal, it's faster and louder and more crazy.

And let's not forget about grindcore, which mixes hardcore and metal to create some of the most chaotic, fast and mindblowing music out there.

oh, and im talking about oldschool hardcore, you know, the one that doesnt suck.

What the hell is this thread supposed to do? It will only make people(namely me) angry. There's nothing wrong with metal, or any other genre of music. I don't like many genres but that's an opinion. So really what I'm saying is..what the fuck if the purpose of this thread? Are you telling us you don't like metal? Are you saying punk is better than Metal? Either way,useless. the only discussion that will arise from that is angry flaming.

Right. Also for the record I'm a metalhead.Not so musch of a suprise eh? Well anyway when I say metalhead I mean the kind who realizes that metal was started in the late 70's and was the best in the 80's. The kind who think genres like deathcore and grindcore and nu-metal are a disgrace to the name of Metal as a genre. Metal isn't just about being fast, intense music. It's about musical talent, proper song composition, and lyrical meaning beyond that of most genres. So next time think before you post this crap.
