Not to nitpick Bob, but Tarantino had a bit role in Desperado, and a writing credit in Sin City.

That aside, I really want to see this.
don't forget he helped with the writing on "natural born killers" which is a crazy movie btw.

one of the things i like most about this movie is that the nazi's were a little more human. such as fredriech the young war hero, he was just a kid. but one of my favourite scenes would have to be

when the "jew bear" is about to kill a german sergant he points his bat at one of the medals on the guys uniform and says, "you get that for killing jew?" then the german replies "for bravery". that gave me shivers because it made the character a real person not just some cardboard cut-out character that gets juxtaposed into a movie for some rambo wannabe to kill.

Yeah it's odd feeling sympathy for the Nazi after years of them being the bad guys in everything. Which is probly why I hated this movie so much, the Bastards are well Bastards with the movie mindset of "NAZI = EVIL KILL THEM!" so it made the killings very unsettling since it comes off as you're still suppost to root for these assholes.

Awesome film!!! Went in feeling skeptical, but I actually didn't want it to end (which is not a fact to be overlooked when you consider it's 2.5 hours long!!), and came out of the theatre absolutely giddy!!!

After seeing district 9 can I really enjoy this movie as much as I want to?
Well for what it's worth, I saw inglorious basterds about 3 days after I saw District 9, and while I still think that movie is better I am still with the whole "Basterds is a must see" thing.

It's a great movie, plain and simple.

Yeah, that was one of the better things the movie did. It made the Nazis human but still made them out to be the obvious bad guys.

Well darn, I was hoping this was gonna be a non-WW2 epic style action film about some sneaky nazi revenge action. I'm sure it's a great thinking film, but I prefer movies to numb my brain into pure glee, so I'll be passing on this one as well.

I believe that I have determined that what Bob recommends is what I shouldn't go see, and what he hates is definitely something I will enjoy.
So what your saying is that you have bad taste in movies?

This was about the least worthwhile review I've seen, if only because the only thing I really found out was that it was a Quentin Tarantino movie. Which I already knew.

OK, that's not entirely true, the comments about how it relates to film were interesting and it was kind of nice to know it wasn't as violent as it looks in the commercials, but it changed pretty much nothing about my desire to see it, as in I still want to.

I'm not saying it was a bad review, but I guess the only people this is worthwhile to are people who don't know who Quentin Tarantino is. And if you like film, that's a hard feat to accomplish.

Solid review, but as I see it, the main star in this Movie is Christoph Waltz. All the others walk in his shadows.

I'm a fan of Tarantino's previous work, but I'm also a very, very squeamish guy when it comes to movies (games I can handle). After reading a couple reviews of this film, I went in expecting some very gruesome imagery, came out 2.5 hours later thinking "Brad Pitt was hilarious and the gore wasn't that bad."

It's a great movie, definitely worth watching and I enjoyed it very much. Also gave me a few shivers; I never got the point of feeling sorry for the Nazis though (maybe because I'm Jewish) but they were definitely not all presented as stereotypical.

Also, is it just me, or had nobody ever heard of Christopher Waltz before his role in this movie? He was excellent!

Really looking forward to seeing this film. Should be an antidote to recent stuff I've seen at the flicks, like "G.I. Joe". Tarantino brought intelligence back to "cool" films in the early 90s, and for that I'm eternally grateful.

I've put this on my "must see" list after hearing favourable reviews on Radio 4. Good review and analysis Bob!
Though saying that Kill Bill was "perfect" and "visionary"? If you could clarify that point I'd be really grateful.
I remember hating Kill Bill, but after all this time has passed I can't quite remember why. There must have been some personal issue I had with that film rather than a fundamental flaw in the its design.

Good review, but i have some complains about Movie Bob's videos:
The quality is too low, it shifts from low res to normal res too much and his over-use of verbal diarrhea in some areas. It makes him sound like an obnoxious wannabe know it all.

Heh, "Ass Kicking Jew Revenge Flicks", perfect choice of words. I'll definitely consider seeing this movie though most likely it'll pass over me.

No need to be so darn smug about it... But seriously you want something to make you feel good? If you hate Hitler then this will make you feel good!!!

Do you mean he speaks too much or are you talking about the amount of text that sometimes flashes up on the screen? Because I find the text hard to read most of the time. But I watch his reviews because I think he is a great reviewer who knows what he's talking about, not because they are good to look at necessarily!
