What the dick is up with the flares being thrown onto the pitch?

Why on Earth would you pay to go to the match just to throw flares by the goal posts?

Ireland vs. Spain now.

Oh God.

ITV really are shit, thick **** of a commentator keeps calling Silva, Villa. Not like it's his job to know about football or anything...

Although now that you say it... Yeah, that Ronaldo Ribery thing. Until now neither of them have showed up. Ronaldo was invisible against Germany and choked badly against Denmark, while Ribery was lacking the flair and creativity that usually makes him great when France played England.

So far neither of them have really impressed, we'll have to wait and see if either of them manages to turn up in later games.
Conversely, Gomez had a relatively quiet season, but he's really shown up with the DFB badge on these past couple of matches... and dear lord, how is Klose still in the squad. This is surely his last major tournament... he's 32, in't he?

Yeah, only Trapattoni has the belligerence to say Ireland can win... oh well, we live in hope... sometimes...

A quiet season? You what? He scored something like 20 goals in the league and was CL top scorer behind Messi for the second year in a row. His team also reached the CL final. Not a very quiet season.
... I was thinking of Thomas Mueller's season... o_O' ... *derp*

I'd just like to say that I was very happy with Spain's performance today. They were playing against Ireland, not exactly the most difficult team, but they definitely got their heads out of their asses for it. I was also shocked that Torres scored two goals, one of them being a pretty good one! That was very surprising for me. Silva and Fabregas also had very good goals, Silva megging two guys and rolling it in, and Fabregas sneaking it past the keeper and the defender.

As for Italy and Croatia, I think Italy was rather lack luster. They had a few decent chances and of course an amazing goal by Pirlo but overall their performance wasn't that impressive to me. Croatia was a bit better but neither team was all that great. I am impressed with Balotelli though. He didn't throw a full on tantrum when he was subbed out, he just harumphed a bit a took his seat. He also had a pretty good chance outside the box but it sailed just a bit over.

Hey we lost 4-0 but we went out singing. We played crap but the Fields of Athenry was still the only thing you could hear at the end of the game

Terry and Lescott will deal with the pony-tailed fuck, don't you worry. :)

They'll push hard for an early goal, then stand their entire side in the box again.

Good game with Ukraine. They had solid defense, just seemed to lose their heart when Ménez scored.

Oh England, you really don't make things easy do you? 0_0 Still, in spite of going through a bit of an emotional roller coaster, at least we snatched the all important 3 points. Theo Walcott has done more in half an hour than James Milner has all tournament and Danny Welbeck's finish was simply immaculate; looking forward to having Rooney alongside him come Tuesday. Hopefully by then we won't be so apprehensive going forward and actually take the initiative before going behind. >.>

Yeah... looks like Rooney will actually get to play for something more than English pride...

My question would be... why in hell's name can't England do something productive with the ball when they have it... more often?!

I know, it can be pretty painful to see how frequently they give the ball the way and even worse when they're half-way up the opponent's half and then just timidly passing it all the way back to Joe Hart just so he can smack it up there and have us give away possession again. What does that achieve?! We haven't created a chance and we haven't kept the ball, it's just ineffectual and embarrassing to see us do that again and again. >.> Hopefully things might pick up with Ukraine, I feel Rooney can do a lot to lift the team if he's on form.

Yeah, I think he's jumping the gun just a smidgen there. XD I mean if by some miracle France draw against Sweden or Croatia beat Spain and we subsequently get the former in the quarters, then I think we can get to the Semis at best (which honestly I'd pretty damn impressed with :3) but I feel the moment we go up against a top calibre side we'll fold. >.>

That was a shitty win against Sweden 3-2. I love how we keep the ball for a few minutes and then give it away, Roy get them to sort that shit out. I cringed more times in that game than being out of my seat at the prospect of us scoring a goal. We scored three good goals, the Sweden goals were scrappy as hell we can't defend like that against one of the top sides. We got the win and I suppose that's all that matters.

We better beat Ukraine by three or more goals and hope Sweden make sure that France only beat them by one goal.
