Yes, I came back to this thread just to poke fun at someone who tipped the Netherlands to go far. Couldn't resist.
Yeah, Germany won and now I'll have people driving in circles in front of my door honking all night. -_-

I'm actually quite shocked by Holland in this tournament so far.

It looks like the Oranjes are peeled.

Well that was just sad. At least we scored a goal, but bloody hell that first half... After that I just stopped watching.

Though at least Stekelenburg saved our dignity a tiny bit. He made some good saves, pretty much the only things that really went well this match. Attacks that were mostly slow as molasses, a defense that was mostly non-existent and a mid-field the Germans sliced through like a hot knife through butter. And all that coming from someone who knows fairly little about football.

City's going nuts right outside my window. Apparently people are partying in their hundreds right in the middle of a huge intersection one block away from my apartment. My apartment's flooded with blinking blue light because a police van's parked in the middle of the road, serving as a makeshift traffic barrier. Air horns, car horns, yelling people and loud music everywhere. xD

To be fair, I don't think anyone saw the Netherlands losing to Denmark before the tournament, and while they did get soundly beaten in the first half (realistically could, possibly should, have been 3-0 down), they played a lot better in the 2nd.

Still, this match makes for a very convincing argument for Germany making it to the final...

lol, do you remember the shitstorm when Germany won against Turkey? Got in a car with 4 others and drove through the "Turkish part of town" honking with what seemed to be like every other German person in the country doing the same.
I have to say that even though that sounds incredibly childish and dickish (especially since I remember Germany actually playing worse than Turkey), I can't help but laugh.

Yeah, kind of like that here right now. I live in Dortmund, I had plenty of honking this year... While I'm actually a supporter of Cologne which doesn't make that any better... :(

Kiel is mostly a quiet city, but boy oh boy do they love a good victory celebration around here xD

The last time the Netherlands defended this badly against the Germans we lost our country for 5 years. This was really appalling. And the only decent thing Robben did was jumping from the field when he did. Still, good work from Stekelenburg keeping the goal as clean as he could.

I'm sure the whole of Scotland will take to the streets in celebration if Ukraine beat England. I hate how some Scottish people want England to fail.

Van Persie's goal was brilliant much better than any of the Gomez goals. Actually Gomez's second was a peach.

Shoddy performance. Still, credit to RvP, goal well taken..

Also for anyone who doesn't know, Redknapp just sacked as Tottenham manager.

I wrote a pretty long post here but I accidentally closed the tab when I was almost finished >.>

So in short, I think France are gonna win it.

Spain = Not looking good this year, massive injury problems

Germany = Big time chokers

Holland = See above, bad defense

Italy = Betting scandal, need I say more?

England = Massively overrated

Poland = Have no real chance but I'm rooting for them.
Didn't Italy win the world cup following their last scandal? I'm not saying the 2 things are connected, but they definitely are.

I don't rate the strikers they've taken though. Midfield is promising, was a pity not to see Montolivo, but it wasn't surprising when Pirlo is so darn good.

Are you saying that in reference to the Ribery - Ronaldo thing from a couple weeks back?

Anyway, it doesn't seem so silly to think that the Netherlands, who got to the final of the world cup, would get far. And considering Denmark and Greece have won this competition, getting a prediction wrong is hardly a major indicator of footballing knowledge.

Anyhow, I'm glad to see Germany win. Mario Gomez is still my tip to get golden boot, and I still think that Germany will get to the final. Maybe against Spain, maybe someone else. I'd like to see a Germany England final, with England winning it, but I can't see that happening.

Well I'm gutted I was in work tonight, two cracking games an all I could do was watch was the highlights reel after I got home.

On the plus side my prediction for a the Germans to win seems to be going according to plan. Though I wouldn't mind if England pull off a miracle and win the thing, even though I have the outward opinion that England are useless and won't win a thing because I don't want to get too excited and be disappointed again.

Nah, about the final Netherlands - Germany thing. Just a bit of banter. Doesn't look like the Netherlands are going anywhere this EURO.

Although now that you say it... Yeah, that Ronaldo Ribery thing. Until now neither of them have showed up. Ronaldo was invisible against Germany and choked badly against Denmark, while Ribery was lacking the flair and creativity that usually makes him great when France played England.

So far neither of them have really impressed, we'll have to wait and see if either of them manages to turn up in later games.
I have a feeling Holland will end up beating Portugal, so I think they won't get out of the group, since I can't see the Germans dropping points to Denmark.

Ribery didn't get to show much in the England game because England defended really well I felt. It wasn't positive football, but it was effective in stopping what is a pretty good French attack. They may have more luck against the Ukraine.
