Hmm, while I'm not inclined to believe a word that any Goonswarm says (And that's the way they like it), I do think that the mere fact that one was written, whether it's sincere or not, is an unprecedented step for that group, honestly if I were that Miner, I'd frame that. Because Goonswarm never shows remorse for their actions, so the fact that one of their leaders has come out with any kind of apology is still a pretty big deal, regardless of whether it's entirely sincere or not.
In real life, I would never attack someone without provocation, and yet in Eve I went out of my way to find people to gun down. I would never try and provoke people on the street into fighting me, however in Eve it was a favoured pastime.
As he said, his "act" gives himself and his alliance an advantage, and I can completely agree with that, The Goonswarm is one of the most infamous and powerful alliances in the game, and they maintain that power through their cold-blooded, ruthless tactics. I may not like them, but I can respect them, and I don't find it too far-fetched to believe that their leaders are not these unrepentant super-villains in real life, because real life doesn't reward that kind of behaviour.
I would beg to differ on this, The nature of Eve supports a certain type of playstyle and personality, and I myself, who prides himself on being a "Care-Bear" even found that, in order to succeed at this game, I often had to do things and act in ways that, in other games, would have repulsed me. BUt the pressure from those I flew with, coupled with the systems and rewards in place, actually made me start to enjoy these actions.Kinguendo said:You dont play a game and suddenly become a different person, I have some roleplay characters in some RPGs but its just variations of my actual personality. I dont do things that I wouldnt do, surely thats obvious to everyone? This guy is lying, you dont be a dick for the character if being that way makes you feel (surprisingly) like a dick.
Playing a game isnt an act, its a game... its something you play for fun. If being a dick is something you find fun then yes, you are a dick. Again, this guy is a lying liar who lies.
