Nah, he usually trashes a lot of games so I don't really watch his videos for the actual review. I watch it for the hilarity of what he says. :D

zomg! epic story! and im curious to know if you liked all of them, and no, by the time his reviews are out my opinions on games are pretty much set in stone, example, i fucking love demons souls, even though i agree with his review of it being hard

A ZP review is what brought The World Ends With You to my attention. He was somewhat possitive about it, so I ended buying up what is the best game I've played on the DS by a statute mile.

no.

moviebob though once.

the fuck ,how did he like repo men?
Nothing is know by everyone except death.

As far as I know Repo Men is the only movie to copy Repo: Genetic Opera. So maybe Moviebob never knew about Repo: Genetic Opera.

I'm just saying.
Repo: The Genetic Opera wasn't that good anyway.

Yahtzee led me to Saint's Row 2. I thank him every day for that.
Strangely enough every time I see Saint's Row 2 I remember all the positive reviews I've heard of it, even my friends recommending it and yet I can never convince myself to so much as rent it out. Maybe its the thought of playing something that's 'like GTA', I've got nothing against GTA and I've heard it does it better, but how much better can it be that it would make me play a game that's like something I've already played?

Well that was a nice detour, in any case no, I never have. I am generally relieved however to see that he disproves of many games much the same way I do, makes me feel like less of a c**t (or rather more so, but in good company) when countless fan's call me as much. IE: Borderlands.

I got Painkiller purely because of his review. I hadn't even heard of the game yet, and I loved the review so much that I ended up buying the game.

It was even better than I'd hoped- a classical FPS with no bullshit.

Generally speaking I'll buy a game and then watch Yahtzee's review of said game, just to see what he makes of it in his own inimitable style. This doesn't always work out: I wish I'd seen Yahtzee's review of AvP before I bought it, he would've saved me £40. Unfortunately, I was stupid enough to have that... that... that THING on pre-order.

I don't buy games based on any reviews, I buy them based on personal appeal. I watch/read reviews to see the game in motion or learn about the mechanics of the gameplay or the premise before buying but only to see if it spikes my curiosity. If it does I go and buy it even if the reviews are stomping on it.

That has always led me to amusing results, Alone in the dark for example, yes, it's god awful, yes it got horrible reviews, but hell I laughed my ass off playing it because it was so horrible you couldn't take it seriously. on the flipside, I have never been able to play Halo 3 for more than 5 minutes because it's so boring that I'm still amazed how much the reviewers kept giving those high scores, maybe the dopamine syringes were real.

In yahtzee's particular reviews, I agree with him in some things but I watch them mostly to laugh at the rants, I loved FFXIII and MGS4 even agreeing that he has a point with some of his complaints, Oh, and though I agree portal is magnificent and saint's row is really really fun (specially in co-op), but painkiller is meh and the rest of the orange box can be thrown into deep space for all I care.

Just yesterday I bought No More Heroes, because I was searching for a good Wii game and Yahtzee's review came back to me.

And it is pretty fun so far; not sure if I can call it 'great', but it's definitely entertaining. I spent the first two hours of gameplay alternating between laughing out loud and staring at the screen thinking "wtf?"

Sadly his reviews come out much further past the game's release date and so I have played some shitty games because of it. Some of his reviews have been spot on and saved me some money (Final Fantasy XIII)

I played all the Silent Hill games because of Yahtzee's references, and I've never looked back.
I played Silent Hill 2 thanks to Yahtzee's review, and since then I'm always looking back. From paranoia.

I haven't bought or tried out anything based SOLELY on Yahtzee's reviews, but he has made me look at certain games that I may not have heard of or been interested in. If he recommends something I'll go and look up reviews on different sites as well to see if there's an overall consensus. A few of the games he's directly and indirectly steered me towards are:

Psychonauts
PoP:SOT (I played it when it came out but never got around to beating it. Tried it out again and loved it, although I really despised the sequels)
Painkiller (and from that review, Serious Sam)
Eternal Darkness (from his Too Human review)
Monkey Island 1 + 2 (the originals, not the Tales)
HAWX
Fallout 3 (which I ended up regretting because of all the crashes and bugs)
Condemned (from his review of the sequel)
Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door (From Super Paper Mario)
Trine

I would probably, but end up either getting a review copy before I read and then compre my notes against his video or will watch a video off a game that I am considering to play but no convinced yet (so in this case I would be swayed I guess).

Well, his opinion was enough to boost both Painkiller and Psychonauts back into the public eye (their sales on steam rocketed after his reviews). I got Batman Arkham Asylum with his review in mind though by that point I was pretty much poised to get it anyway.

I decided to get Arkham Asylum because he said it was so great, then found out my computer won't run it (and I don't have any consoles after the chunky old first gen ps2) so that kinda sucked.
This is what I hate about PCs. Buy for a console, It'll most likely work. Buy for a PC, no idea whether it actually will work unless you just bought a top of the line $6000 system.

Saints Row 2!!!! I had played the first one and enjoyed, but so many new releases came out around that time including Fallout 3 and I just didn't know what to get... Yahtzee set me straight and I enjoyed it.

P.S. I still got Fallout 3 later so no comments about choosing one over the other, I got both eventually.
