Clearly, the winner would be one of the New England States, all those hunters up there stockpiling guns and being sneaky in the woods.

This assumes that the nuclear missiles are inoperable due to the safeguards imposed by the federal government which would prevent individual states from being able to fire said missiles.

California. It controls ALL the entertainment in the U.S. has nukes, and several battleships in the many harbors. I don't care if they're in a budget deficit. They would kill everyone. Hell, we has alot of the US's airforce.

im going with Rhode Island. I know a whopping zero Americans who can find it on a map, and the spell check wont even confirm its existence.
all they gotta do is ride out the war in blissful irrelevance, until everyone else has blown themselves to kindling.

Very, very true.

I'm liking all the votes for Texas. And I agree, but I can't vote for my home state. So I'm going to go with Virginia, the land of great military tradition. There is no way in hell that Virginia would lose another civil war. Every citizen would die first.

Alaska! As long as the Valkyrie Sarah Palin exists she will purge the unclean and sodomistic with the cold wrath of the north delivered by guns carried by her drunken wood clan warriors! ... *gg*

Oooooh good scenario. I'm not in the mood to look up statistics though...

Let's say that each state's national guard and housed military each side with whatever state they're in. I'm gonna bet on whichever state has the highest number of troops and hardware. Definitely whichever state has the most aircraft and trained pilots.

Points go to states with high numbers of armed civilians too.

Probably CA. They have the biggest population and they seem feisty.
TX, NY, NJ and NV are also nice contenders.

Damn, I have five different home states, but I have to say either virginia or connecticut in lieu of CA because its my current home. All three have very significant naval bases with access to OHio -class subs, which contain most of America's nuclear stockpile, form there its simply a matter of getting them out into the water and firing. Game over man, game over.

I know who wouldn't win, Michigan. Unless they got their asses in gear real quick to convert those auto factories into war time plants.

Wyoming.

Everyone will forget to attack them, and they'd finish off the last, weakened state.
