I just believe people don't like games for their reasons, and while I may debate and investigate that, I accept above all else that they have their reasons.

Far Cry 2

The first time through, I hated it utterly. The second time through I figured out that stealth isnt broken, it just works way better at night - so I started playing it mostly at night. You dont get to see all the nice sunny graphics but the game is way more fun as I could get much closer with a silenced pistol and do the dirty.

I guess some spanner will probably come along now and tell me how they aced the whole game with just a tooth pick during the day, but meh whatever.

And I really liked my time with FC2. It really let you do your thing. The stealth was solid, but not perfect, and it does work during the day if you keep laying low and have a ghillie suit. The explosives were a nice touch to gunfights, the weapons like the mortar or flamethrower expand the number of approaches to any given situation. Not to mention taking a hang glider to a middle of a depot and then blasting everyone away. (That is if those bastards would ever die)

Me and a friend had a little diamond hunt going on. He gave up in the end, I stopped playing shortly after. Got to somewhere around 150. I'm thinking of playing it again now.

How are the fire mechanics?

I know lots of friends of mine who utterly despise Sims 3. I pretty much liked it, not loved it.

I could play for hours on end, though I would get bored, but I would still enjoy it the next day.

As for now its my backup game if StarCraft2 is failing on me.

Same, but I can only play it for a day or two before I go numb and need to lie down for a while.

This. It's playable and it kept me entertained enough, it just doesn't compare to DMC3 or 4 (never played 1).

i have quite the opposite effect ive played games that have been judged solly on 3 things- length controls and graphics biggest offender of asshole games that deal out this bullshit is cod i have nothing to say other than FUCK COD in reality games people think are good really are im also a hippocrite in saying i really like the multiplayer although humans are assholes because they think they are so just because the pushed a button to shoot me WOOOOOOOOOOO i can do that too

Punctuation? That was one massive run-on that I had to pick apart several times to understand. People aren't assholes (or think they are) because they shoot you. They just trash talk the hell out of you afterwards. And this thread isn't for more people to say "Fuck CoD." We have enough of those people, thank you very much.

InFamous is my number 1 choice
Had an awful lot of people saying "get Prototype instead", so I did...Prototype was pure shite. Not the shite with little nuts of fun and sweetcorns of greatness...Just shite through and through

InFamous is better all around. Gameplay is better, side missions have a point, visuals are better, isnt as emo as Prototype and is just generally great

for me, Prototype was an underappreciated gem that just needed some small gameplay and story elements tweaked and it would have been the perfect superhero/villian sandbox game. but unfortunately some REALLY frustrating things like cheap enemies and a story that didnt tie in well with the gameplay were noticeable flaws.

im disappointed the game wont be getting a sequel... which is why i need to make one myself (deal with it)

Now MOVIES on the other hand, I have had this happen quite often.

How are the fire mechanics?

You could go and watch a youtube video about it. Fire spreads based on the direction of the wind; grass, trees and other vegetation get caught in it. Other things made of wood may or may not, depending on how the designer thought it should be. After the fire spreads things stay lit for a short amount of time and then it just goes out. All in all, it's pretty cool. 'specially around a gas station or some depot and such.

I'd have to say [PROTOTYPE]. It's a damn good game, but it gets flak because the developers cared about their game enough to delay it. Sadly they delayed to around the same time that inFamous was coming out, which in itself shouldn't have hurt anything because inFamous is pure shit without even a single kernel of corn to salvage from it.

However, I've underestimated how much people love shooters, no matter how bad (and inFamous is a REALLY BAD shooter), in favor of a game with even the slightest glimmer of originality in it. You would think with great third person shooter titles like Uncharted and Gears of War out there on the market, crap like inFamous would still get called out for being crap, but nope. All shooters get a pass these days, no matter how awful.

So, yeah. [PROTOTYPE] got the shit end of that stick somehow, but fuck the critics. [PROTOTYPE] is an awesome game and if you would rather play another fucking shooter instead, have fun with the upcoming Call of Duty Black Ops. Hey, at least it'll be better than inFamous, not that you'd notice the difference as long as you get to shoot stuff.

OT: I have always had a soft spot for the Fable series, and Far Cry 2 waas great in my opinion (probably because its the only "realistic" shooter to actually feel realistic)

bad company 2, all my mw2 friends suck at it, and therefore hate it, it's got great cover physics, guns have recoil, and it need real SKILL to play. mw2 used to be fun, but now the hackers are rampant(pc only) and the novelty's worn off, doesn't matter how much prestige i get, bad company2 ftw!

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. People complain that it is dumbed down, but I do not see it (and this is coming from a Morrowind veteran!). Also, Halo 3: ODST. Better campaign than 3 + excellent new multiplayer mode + the same excellent Halo 3 multiplayer + new maps. I see no problem here.

I'll have to agree with you on Halo 3: ODST. I found the campaign to be a nice break from the usual Halo routine. The flashback missions had you doing different things all the way through, and then, just when that mission was starting to get boring, you switched back to the rookie and had a nice pleasant stroll through New Mombassa.

It had a fantastic campaign, an actually interesting story, an engaging atmosphere, and a brilliant soundtrack, and yet it's considered one of the worst games in the series by most Halo fans and even many non Halo fans.
How the fuck that makes sense, I do not know...

It's not a whole game, but Half-Life 2's vehicle sections. I got the game yesterday, and loved the boat! I'm on the car bit now, and that's awesome too.

This, I consider Highway 17 the high-point of an excellent game (though the best part, the bridge, was on foot).

Also, Sonic Adventure DX. The camera was a bit sloppy, sure, but overall I rather liked it. It also made me realize I'm absurdly accepting with Sonic continuity.

what really? its the ugly ducking? I thought that was the pinnacle of the series, well another age hmm its a tough fight but i think FA is the best purley cause the story. Everytime i hear "Thermidor here" i get chills. For ORCA!! I am the last but it wont be for long come AC5 am rebuilding orca!. (Sorry i love this game so much lol)

Yeah believe me, I've seen a lot of people hating on it or not wanting to play because "OMG its too complicated!" other times they cant keep up in a simple fight or they complain about the Japanese god-players. Honestly my only complain is losers like 'Hurricane Leon' aka Lynx Tiger Claw, the lamer who disconnects every time he loses a fight (resulting in a draw, no wins or loses for either side). If it weren't for him (And lag-players like him) I'd be ranker status, if not top dog by now.

I will also say that certain achievements on that game were ridiculous, such as killing up to 10000 players AND winning 10000 matches. I dont have THAT much time to spare Fromsoftware..

But I love Armored Core For Answer still, me and my buddies play partnerships often, best of all was taking down Spirit of Motherwill AND Answerer with both of us using a special design I created (sobrero body, dozer arms, zero tuning, worst boosters, it's crazy in a can with a side order of fries XD but we still managed somehow)
