Final Fantasy Seven was not amazing. It was not a gift from the gaming gods, nor did it descend from the heavens to pull us out of the primeval sludge of bad games. It was boring, had uninteresting characters with stupid, pointy hair cuts, and ridiculously long swords.
Metal Gear Solid is bareable, at best. I could force myself to play through the games (except for 4, since I don't own a PS3, nor will I ever, and neither do any of my friends) and every now and again enjoy some of the cool action cinematics. But, c'mon! The story made absolutely no sense! (Yes, I know 4 is supposed to wrap things up nicely, but I don't have any chance of playing it right now, shut up) I hated the fanboys of the game. You know, the ones who thought they were some kind of Uber-gamer because they believed they actually knew what the hell the La-le-loo-le-low(or whatever)was, or every other stupid plot device in the game.
I do disagree with TheIceface on Psychonauts, though. I was one of the disappointingly small group of people who actually went out and bought the game right when it came out. It has, by no means, the best controls in a video-game. But the game was so damn imaginative and fun, and the story was absolutely hilarious! I mean, just look at the level design. Few games I have played have been this wacky and off the wall while still being an engaging and fun game. If you even think you like action platformer games, go buy Psychonauts. Seriously. Now. I'm sure you can find it for under $15 at a Game-Stop or something.
