Its not ruined. At all. All items you can buy you can also find normally, and someone else having them doesn't mean shit.

Because the hat they grinded(or idled) for months to get can now be purchased for a mere $5-$10. Their cool status symbol is no longer exclusive to just them. You gotta know how that community thinks.
Also because Valve changed things. Change bad. Change very bad. Community want different things, just don't change things.
Changed what? You mean microtransactions? At least they do it properly, which is more than I can say for Nexon. Who's entire business model is based around microtransactions. I will say that the hat stats are not a good idea. And I don't like the supply crates being able to give out normal drop items. For $2.50, I would prefer to know for certain that I'm going to get something of value and not something that I will just turn into scrap metal. I mean, as it stands now, it's just a gamble. And I only gamble in Vegas casinos. You know, since they provide free drinks, air conditioning, live entertainment and buffets.

Aside from those minor quibbles, I see nothing wrong with the Mann-conomy update.
I was actually just poking fun at most communities' tenancies to claim their favorite game is ruined because the devs changed/added something.

To quote Nerf Now:

Firstly:
You can get most of the weapons either by random drops or trading, but I doubt anyone would be willing to trade his croc hat, making the set bonus a pay-only privilege, and these are 17USD right now, or 20 bucks for the complete set.
Secondly:
Now a question for you TF2 sniper players. If a croc-o-style find a pocket medic to heal him, how you counter-sniper him?
To those who don't know, having the complete croc-o-style outfit as a Sniper makes you immune to headshots, and you'd have to extremely lucky to get the hat to complete the set without paying for it. While the weapon which is part of the set prevents you from getting headshots, having the complete set still makes any Sniper virtually untouchable to other Snipers, no matter how much more skilled they are.

Tell me about it. I've opened two crates so far, and I got a Scottish resistance in both of them. This means I've lost £4.00 and a Mad Milk I traded for the second crate (don't worry, I can make more, I'm not that daft).

Ah yeah, I know what you're saying. That started up around 1997. You know what else got big back then? The internet. So basically the internet is one giant app for bitching about pointlessly stupid things.

God I love technology.
1997... thats when Duke Nukem Forever was announced.

I think the creation of the internet is what caused Duke Nukem's problem's.

It makes perfect sense if you don't think about it too hard.

This is ridiculous. No matter who you are in TF2, you will die and die lots, so wearing a Fez while it happens isn't gonna make you any better. Yes, I know the Fez has neat properties, but you're going to die anyway because that's half the fun of the game. Die as a Spy and come back as Heavy Weapons Guy to spray everything with lead. Then, die again and play the Pyro. Etc. You get the drill. Some people just don't know how to HAVE fun.

Because giving money to the developers of a game you love and cherish, who have been feeding you free DLC for the past 3 years, ends up with them being shunned.
Fixed it for you

I think all this controversy is bout the Mann store, but really the new store is fine, don't get what you want from the drop system, you can buy it, don't want to craft the Holy Mackerel, you can buy it, don't feel like buying it, craft them and/or wait for the drops! My god you guys bashing Valve are a bunch of grateful maggots! You think you have it bad, I have no drops, I have no new maps, I have have no hats, I have no extra weapons, why hell I don't even have a keyboard! Yes I'm raning but you idiots need to be told that you're a bunch of self-centered no good ASSHATS, all the free content isn't good enough, no the moment thay give you the option of just buying the new items you have a tantrum! Ok, that's enough raging, but really I think what they are concerned about is valve releasing store-only content like weapons that they can't get randomly from drops.

I love how people have been getting massive amounts of FREE content for years, and as soon as we are given the OPTION to pay for some stuff which almost all of it is unlock-able by playing, the game is ruined.

Obvious answer would be to switch to Spy and give them a back rub, or switch to Heavy or Soldier or something and put lots of bullets/rockets in their faces. You don't always have to be a Sniper, y'know.

Oh no, I hardly ever play Sniper. And I don't think it's a problem until a lot of people start doing it. It's just that I see it really pissing off all the 'pro-Sniperz' on 2fort...

Actually, that sounds brilliant. I might just buy the stuff and grab a Medic just to piss off people having Sniper wars. See how they like the taste of body shots with jarate.

Doesn't bother me since everything besides the Spy pack is absolute trash.
*Hugs his Degreaser like it's a lifeline*

Leave my poor baby alone, you Bad Bird!

Seriously, every weapon has a few good things but it also has a weakness. The fact of the matter is that you'll be getting a LOT of variety in how to use weaponry and killing people.

Do I want to hurry to the frontlines as a Heavy with the GRU? Or do I hang back with the Medic and Natasha until he has his uber?

Do I do great at close range with the Demoman, or do I want to be able to use stickies?

Do I work on being a Sneaky spy with the Backburner, or do I get better at my PowerPuff with the Degreaser?

Since there's more options available, there's more strategies than hate on a few weapons.

I'd say that this is the best thing to happen to TF2 because it makes the game less about preloadouts and more about how you can work to get your kills.

I just dislike that wearing the entire pack gives you a bonus. Its really stupid to have the degreaser and the powerjack, as the degreaser is pretty well designed to be best friends with the axtinguisher.
That's actually a really good reason it should have a bonus; it makes up for the lack of synergy. I don't like needing the hat for it though, that's just silly.

TF2 is not destroyed, though the first day of the update was super buggy lol it kept telling me the Mann Co. Store was closed...I know game! you don't have to remind me every 5 mi-aaaand you just got killed... :/

Thought I do have to admit wearing the whole set for even more seem kinda unbalanced, i hope they do that with the old items or at least try :/

also, i think 4-5 classes can now heal themselves so no one will play medic
Not really their self heals are awful. Heavy is basically a long recharging med pack not good for field, Scout gets rid of main weapon(I think), Pyro is based on melee, Soldier is the only decent one based on hitting enemy so medic is still needed.

The main reason is that people believe all the items continually being added will get harder and harder to keep balanced, and an unbalanced tf2 is a destroyed tf2. Althogh so far it doesn't appear to be unbalanced yet, some things may need a tweak but nothing game breaking yet.
Of course some people would disagree with that. All the methods of getting cheap kills ruin the game for some people, and the more new items we get, the more ways for cheap kills there are. The Huntsman is undeniably cheap and random, the entire Demoman class will always be hotly debated and the insane amount of spam that sadly leads to way too much success is just a fact for TF2.

If people can deal with all of that and be happy with the game, great. A lot of those even admit that certain weapons and classes suffer from balancing problems, it just doesn't ruin the game for them.

Of course, people whining about headshots and backstabs and pyros are really just whiners. But there can be legitimate complaints about the effect of many of the unlocks (and even some vanilla weapons).

And then of course some people simply can't handle change :p
I've never heard anyone complaing about Demoman?

Well, the only thing I don't like about the new update is that the Shortstop is completely overpowered D:
I assume there'll be a nerf VERY soon, though.

Also, it's a good thing they did 5 updates at once, now we don't have everyone rushing to a particular class...

I don't know about destroyed, but I played TF2 to get away from the grind-fest you find in most other games, I really liked that everybody had the same options, and a match was won on superior tactics and teamwork.
Now its also about who have farmed the more items.
Keep playing for a few months. In time people will have all the polycount items.

It's gonna be like that for every update, now that crafting and the store has been introduced. People will save up metal/money then buy/craft everything on the day of the update.

I guess so. But the really stupid thing is needing the hat. I still will always use degreaser and axtinguisher. It rocks! :D

My theory is that unlockables were never a good idea to start with in any game (I didn't enjoy unlocking things in CoD4 I put up with it, as you can guess I never prestiged either). Also, some people think that the Mannconomy is a transparent way to nickel and dime people. I can't really comment on that though, I haven't played the game in a long while.

The only real legitimate reason fans have to complain is because everyone is trading. Of course once trading servers are set up it shouldn't be that much of a problem. Also they fail to realize that it's a new thing everyone wants to check out (see every single class update ever).

Also the crates can only be opened through purchase, and will hopefully be craft able soon.
