I can open my eyes, but not in salt water. It just makes it hurt and my vision gets all blurry. Like some kind of silly first-person shooter.

I can usually keep my eyes open underwater even in the ocean, only time I can't is when there is an obscene amount of chlorine in the water.

I'm usually fine with it. I don't do it often, because then it just feels like I've worn contact lenses for several days. Saltwater is usually easier though.

Doesn't really bother me, unless I've been swimming for an hour or so. I don't like Goggles at all, but I occasionally wear a mask to go skin-diving. Now that's fun, too bad I haven't gone anywhere to do it in years.

Yeeeaaah, I can't do it at all. Water always fucking burns my eyes.

I really wish I was used to it, but the pain of my corneas burning away in a chemical bath doesn't sound like I am.

Yes, however in public swimming pools when I was younger I would have burning eyes for a long time afterwards.

I never had any problems keeping my eyes open underwater. I don't know why I'm able to do that and you aren't.

I can't wear goggles. I hate them. I have never had any problems with opening my eyes underwater, it has never hurt me.

Don't use the goggles! They do nothing!

OT: A bit, I guess. Haven't been swimming in a while.

Depends.

Depends, in a pool or ocean I can't, but in a lake I can. The chlorine and salt irritates my eyes, but the dirt in lake or river water is fine.
Same. I've never tried in the ocean, nor would I. I used to be able to do it in the pool, but I probably shouldn't have. Lake is no problem at all.

I've never had a problem keeping my eyes open underwater; I can't remember a time where I experienced the blurry vision/burning/stinging sensation, although my eyes can be quite red after a swim depending on how much chlorine was in the pool.

Never opened them in salt water before though, not really inclined to try.
