Gotta buy it. The gameplay looks solid enough, but it the writing that gets me.

There's a wit to the Fable games that I just can't help but love.

And everything I've seen confirms it to me.
Totally agree. Along with that, there's a certain something that Fable has that I can't qiute put my finger on. It's got a certain charm to it that keeps me going back and enjoying it, flaws and all.
This may be just me, but the Fable games have always reminded me of a kind of Terry Pratchett-esque universe for some reason, but in a slightly darker light.

I get the same feeling with Overlord (Of course, the story for those WERE written by Terry Pratchett's daughter). Here you have this ridiculous world filled with outrageous characters, but then you have these murky undertones beneath it that lash out to pull you back in.

That said, I really want to get Fable 3, despite Molyneux lying to me on the second game.

My excitement for this game went way up this weekend when I started to lose interest in New Vegas and realized I probably wouldn't be playing it much more until something gets fixed.

I loved fable1, fable2 had me so hyped but it was a terrible game for me, even if it hadn't been hyped it would have been terrible in my opinion.
I'm not buying fable3 till i can have a go on it and hear A LOT of good things about it.

Who the hell knows, it isn't out. At least wait until then to make this thread, it's ridiculous.

Both. It's a Peter Molyneux game. It's Lionhead Studios. Which means it'll more than likely be awesome, because Peter and the staff at Lionhead are great developers. But with Peter at the head of the company, it'll definitely be overhyped. But why should that detract from the game? Just take his words with caution, and bask in the fact that Peter Molyneux is a talented developer who, unlike some in the industry, truly cares about his games and what he does, and is genuinely excited to be able to make such games. That's what I love about the guy, and that's why I have faith in him, regardless of how much he hypes up his games...

Give it a month and Molyneux will be apologizing for how much he thinks it sucks anyways.

I never heard any hype about Fable 1, I got it on a whim, on PC and it was Fable + TLC. I enjoyed it and was disappointed that the second wasn't available on PC. I'll likely get the third on a sale or something.

Is it weird that for both Fable and Fable II I never saw any sort of advertising, or trailers, or any of Molyneux's promises? I loved Fable, but thought it was far too short. I lliked Fable 2, but not as much, possibly because I wasn't as invested in the story, and the boss fight was weaksauce compared to Fable.

But I am absolutely stoked for Fable 3. I will buy it asap Tuesday morning.

I just want the combat to actually be worth shit as opposed to casting Time Lag and Shock and raping face for no reason (there's nothing wrong with that of course, but come on). And for the common folk to stop following me like a bunch of mindless sheep whenever I think of heading into town.

Do you know how many people went home with missing limbs because they wouldn't leave my girl alone? D:

But eh, I may read a few reviews and get some second opinions. You know, to see what I have to look forward to.

My Girlfriend is so excited for this game - she's played Fable 2, over and over and over since I bought it for her when it launched. She's been dabbling with Boarderlands recently, but she can't wait for tomorrow 8)

Fable 2 hurt, Fable 3 will probably be better(thats not hard really) the trouble is Fable become lost after the lost chapters, to much dickary with themes, ect not enough game, story and substance... kinda like FO3 and Bioshock....

I don't know that I found Fable 2 "terrible", but it was forgettable.

Fable 1 was awesome, and I played it like three times.

Fable 2...there was more to do, but I feel like I spent more time dressing up my character and buying real estate than actually doing quests. And after playing it...I just don't remember very much of it. I'd intended to play it again before Fable 3 came out, but I can't really be bothered now.

This game is out Tuesday and I'm pumped for it.
Lucky you, I have to wait until Friday.

O.T. Games by Molyneux are always overhyped, but if you pay no attention to the hype, they're really awesome games, the only way you might get dissappointed is by getting a boss you kill by shooting him once while the previous game had an awesome boss fight.
This is the exact thing I have done. I just ignore most of what he says about his games, and just play the game for what it is. That's probably why I enjoyed the first two Fables whereas other people I know said they were really overhyped.

Seriously? /facepalm

She spends a tiny fraction of her time with the game, "shopping and dress up," and a huuuuuge amount of time exploring the world and trying to find Easter Eggs she hasn't yet found.

But yeah, very, crass and frankly stereotypical of yourself as video-game-guy to make a statement like that about a woman enjoying a game.
