"You just don't know good games" is what I was told when I told him I didn't like Killzone 2, MW 2, Half-Life 2, etc.

He is supposed to be one of my best friends yet I wanted to beat him to a bloody pulp after hearing.

Any argument involving the Star Wars prequels annoys me. You don't like them we get it! Some of us have better things to do than complain about movies nobody made you watch.
You mean all the guys who complain that "Jar Jar ruined the prequels!" and whatnot? Yeah.....

I dislike the particular breed of Yahtzee fans that cling to his word and opinion as blessed by God/Jesus/Buddha/Morgan Freeman. They end up flaming against or taking shots at fans of almost everything because Yahtzee hates it.

I just tell them they all cower in the shadow of awesome that is the Sega Genesis. The best system ever made because it has more attachments and blast processing.
does this not make, in turn, make u a fanboy?

anyway im tired of threads likes these. NO ONE CARES! all this could be avoided if u just didnt talk to them. stop starting threads just to bash on people.
I love my Genesis don't get me wrong, but it's not a valid argument. I just do it to totally derail the conversation. Especially when you bring up they should make the SegaBD, come on, Sega games on Bluray discs! Think how long those 256 color videos could be, you could probably put every ep of lost on there, and Battlestar galatica!

See? It's totally dumb on my part and just for giggles. If I really want a solid curve ball I'll bring in the Vectrex. Screw your Sony Wiibox 360, it doesn't have it's own monitor or mono speaker, therefore it's obsolete, behind the times and useless!
i want u to see this.

im not advertising this video but U(as in the person im quoting) needs to see this
I'm not derailing anything, I'm saying how I deal with fanboys. Honestly it's the best way to deal with them, you bring up an argument that they can't argue with and if they do, they're an idiot because it doesn't make sense to begin with.

The best argument I heard was "Wii is better because it's not packing everything on the planet in it and it lets you buy what you want and keep out stuff you don't want. This way it doesn't wind up being some super computer that you only use 2 things on." It's ...50 dollars cheaper than a 360 or PS3, I can't say I saw what he was talking about. Like what you like, but at least make a valid point, you know like ...I like the controller?
ok ok
anyway.....this is my ideal "arguement about games" (aka how they should be)

person1: hey man did u get MW2?
person2: no
person1: why not?
person2: i dont really like realistic warbased fps
person1: k....wanna go play L4D2?
person2: hell ya!
and so they did =D

I hate the "you just don't get what it's all about" argument...
Best one I've ever heard is, well not technicaly an argument, but it was just so funny, was talking about Halo Wars:
Friend: "Halo Wars is one of the best games I've ever played."
Me: "I don't like it, it's not a game for me... I just don't like armoured super-space marines shooting eachother, but now in RTS style..."
Friend: "To be honest, I bought it because it's Halo, but I don't like it."
I responded: "You serious?" I thought: "Booyah!!"
Holy shit, that was awesome.

The fanboys that use logic and are open minded are ok. The fanboys who are closed minded are the ones I don't like.

I don't actually remember any fanboy arguments. I tend to delete them from my mind.

I don't listen to the rantings of the fanboys, usually. I do remember arguing with someone over the merits of Diablo 2 and getting quite infuriated upon the realization that his complete argument was based on graphics.

Unfortunately, fanboys and logic tend to be mutually exclusive.

Tell me, did this person remember anything that occurred prior to the year 2002? Is he aware of the fact that the world didn't simply spring into existence when Microsoft had the idea to create an FPS that featured an armored space marine who killed aliens?
No, because memory would require some form of a brain.

- you're not in the target audience!
- this game is perfect in every way
- Lets see YOU make a better game
- you're just jealous (of what excatly?)
- This game has more soul/heart then those gorefests.
- Its a game for SMART people.
- If you don't like the game don't play it! (note: this is a valid argument in a universe with time machines)
- This game has artist merit, play it like it was a story!
- The target audience must be idiots
- I don't bother with people that have that much brain damage
- I plan on it, I'm in Game Development
- Actually a little bit, but only of the people who haven't wasted their time on this garbage
- Hitler and Stalin had a lot of heart, does that make them good
- I don't want to be smart then
- I don't really see how this is fanboyism, that's what I tell people who ***** about how bad games are.
- If I wanted a story I would have read one, I want a game.

I was genuinely tempted to, but he was like 13. I decided ultimately it was a bad idea, and went home to cry in a corner.
All the more reason to smack him. Think of it like house training a puppy, only that instead of pissing on the carpet, he's pissing on your intelligence. You don't have to take that crap.
Heh, true enough. But his father was there at the time, and... well let's just say I didn't want to mess with him. I'm a gamer, not a black belt, and I somehow doubt he would have challenged me to a game of Smash Bros. to settle matters after I smacked his son. :p

I hate it when people compare two twotally different games, in opposite genres. As if they're comparable, apples and oranges...

I long defended the Wii. Now, I realize Nintendo discovered they can earn more money by targeting a different (larger) audience. That's fine by me, they're a company and they have to earn money. But they don't have to expect me buying the successor to the Wii. I have become a PC exclusive gamer, with the exception of playing Guitar Hero on my Wii every now and then.

Someone once told me that Halo 3 is better than LittleBigPlanet... yeah

1: both different genres
2: halo is terrible
3: LBP is awesome
That kinda stuff always drives me crazy on here and in real life. People are always comparing games that have no simularities whatsoever. Truly the definitiion of comparing apples to oranges. That always gets my goat and in the only fanboyism that really irks me.
