I really hate people who will not watch an anime because they have to read the subtitles arghhh
it does take some getting used to, i do have to admit. And sometimes, if there is more than one conversation going on you have to pause and read before continuing. However, that is one thing i have come to dislike about talking to people about anime, they are so close minded "Everything with mechs is liek gundam" "All english voice acting sucks" "Subtitles are awful" "Anyone who watches subbed versions are fanboys" *all said in a slow, dull voice*

YES! and nowadays all people want is fighting, like if it doesnt have "cool fight-scenes" its not interesting. Bout time people started looking towards plot driven anime. I gess people who understand anime are just more evolved than dickweed anime-haters.

well to be honest, i enjoy a good fight scene as much as anybody. I mean, Death NOte and code geass i watched for the story, casue that's where they excelled. But Busou Renkin, Blue Gender, Bleach, Naruto, SaiYuki, Neon Genesis, Gundam 00, Black Lagoon, i watch those to see some ass kicking.
I guess i jsut haven't found many good animes that are plot driven, maily becasue it seems like the ones i do find are based around androginous young men and women running around, getting red in the face from time to time whenever they talk to each other and saying "Demo..." or "Desu..." a lot. If you can suggest a few good ones that would be cool.

Oh the list...

First I prefer Dubbed, due to the feeling of seasickness reading text in an anime.

My list:

10: Star Blazers my first anime.
9: Crest of the Stars/ Banner of the Stars
8: Ranma 1/2
7: Bleach
6: Gundam Wing
5: Rahxephon
4: Record of the Loduss War
3: Any Ghibi Film
2: Neon Genesis Evangalion
1: Full Metal Panic!

honorable mention to FMA

In terms of fun probably Gintama, as a lot of it fits my humour pretty well being so random. Aside from comedy the series i probably got most engrossed in was Death Note up to the "certain point" where alot of people agree it takes a turn for the worse. I much prefer subbed anime to dubbed as dubbed tends to sound a lot more fake in the sounds and tones of voice.

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.
Only anime i watched twice, and will most likely watch it a third time. Loved it, love it, will love always love it.

And also other nominees are Code Geass and dragonball kai (i haven't watched the original Dragonball series)

Man, four pages of posts, and only ONE other person likes Excel Saga? That's slightly depressing.

Also, to anyone who says they like "everything" by Studio Ghibli, you should go out and see Grave of the Fireflies. I saw that, expecting an uplifting story... and I got completely floored.

That movie is, without a doubt, the most DEPRESSING movie I have ever seen in my life. Seriously, I'm an upbeat kinda guy, and I was moping for DAYS after seeing it. Just... geez.

There are certain manga that I wish WERE anime though. There's some pretty good crap that just doesn't make it. Like Deadman Wonderland for instance.

Death Note has been a long running favourite for me, as well as Hellsing, Paranoia agent and Astro boy. (I haven't seen the Astro boy movie because it looks a bit crap in my opinion)
