Azula. For sure.

Not sure if it counts, considering the main audience is teens and college students, but Avatar: The Last Airbender is an animated kid show, so it should count. And Azula is one of the best villains ever: awesomely powerful, smooth, agile, manipulative, and just plain evil. And dang, her voice was so perfect for the part. Her introduction marked the beginning of a much more mature show.

If you haven't seen Avatar: The Last Airbender, start at the beginning and enjoy that masterful fantasy epic.

Indeed... an awesome voice, with a half-competent villain.

I can one-up it, however.

And one more, although I suppose comic book villains are cheating.

I hated most disney princesses, but I loved Sleeping Beauty. I mean, if you're gonna animate a myth, make it feel like a myth, don't fill it with generic modern cartoon characters. The antagonist was evil and dignified, the prince was... Also dignified, and Aurora actually acknowledged the fact that she was the damsel in distress and didn't feign strength through stupid teenage rebellion or getting in a single shin-kick to one of the antagonists' goons. It was visually one of Disney's greatest works, and was just... Kickass! (Though the Hunchback of Notre Dame was excellent, too.)
Seriously, go watch it again.
even tho im a guy, i liked that movie. altho that ***** there (cant remember her name) is a dick (not literally of course), Frollo in the Hunchback of Notre Dame is directly EVIL. if he lived these days, he would be building (and launching) nukes from north korea right now.

Yeah, although I'm amazed that you didn't mention the titular character from which your avatar is borne.

True enough, Zim gets a shout-out for being awesome (as well as one of the very, very few good Nick shows as of late). That is an amazing show, for sure, but Zim's reasons for being a great villain are different from those of Azula: Zim is more for comedic effect, obviously, whereas Azula is pretty much Satanspawn. Zim is great, but I'd personally have to put Azula first. Avatar is my favorite show, after all...

Does Slade from Teen Titans count? I pick him. That voice is so perfect for a villain. Not to mention at one point he basically becomes a zombie and gains demonic fire powers.

My other pick would be Shredder. You could dump him into an active volcano after cutting off his head and stuffing napalm in his clothes, and he'd be all better and doing evil after about a week. He never compromises his evil, either.

I'll have to say this for both. Shame we never get any reasons for Slade being a villian, but fuck it his voice is awesome.
Yeah, and Shredder...

He's awesome the whole series, but when you find out he's basically Invader Zim with less cuteness, he's extra cool. It was a good explanation for why he hates everything and everyone.

Supposedly Ron Perlman voiced Slade. Guess that explains part of why he's so awesome.

Well, I would agree to that. Although Zim has a bigger kill count (of his own side) after Operation Impending Doom 1...

What about Tak though? She's a lot like Azula, in a turn-the-earth-into-a-pinata sort of way.

Well I didn't like the whole Shredder reveal, it just made him less threatening to me.

And that just made my heart beat stop.
Eh, I felt the same at first about Shredder. But then I saw one of the alternate timeline episodes, and it was so dark for a children's cartoon it about blew my mind.

Oh, and in the TMNT cartoon, Shredder always pronounced Baxter Stockman as Baxtard Stockman. I found that funny as a kid growing up.
