We've all answered threads involving favorite characters in games but what about the enemies? The things we spend ours defeating? In the all the games you've played have you ever had a "favorite" enemy or enemies? The things you just love to hate. My favorite would have to be Helghan from Killzone. Who is/are your favorite?

One of my favorite were the Elites from the Halo Franchise, I just liked their look, weapons and their general warrior culture. Luckily for me I'll be able to fight them again this year.

whats the vrex, i beat you to it? fuck yeah i did

Another enemy I always liked were the strange puppets in the first Devil May Cry. Perhaps it was that I just liked that game, but I always remember thinking the puppets were ace when I think back to that game. Tis a shame I never got into the rest of the series.

Many of the monsters in the Castlevania games such as Death, various types of knights, and personified weaponry are quite a blast to take down.

As for other types of action or RPG games, any enemy that has a sword, is capable in combat, and/or can actually block your attacks is one of my favorite enemies to face in battle. They are much more satisfying to defeat if they actually fended off some of your attacks.

Funnily enough, in Mass Effect 1 I remember thinking, "Once I off Saren, I'm gonna have to take out these sick Cerberus fucks. They killed an Alliance Admiral and they were breeding Thorian Creepers and sentient Rachni for war."

Yeeeah... Fate is a cruel mistress.

The special infected from Left 4 dead. Sure they trapped you but they really are the smartest AI out there.

The Heartless from Kingdom Hearts always stood out as well-designed enemies. Challenging to fight (some of them, anyway) and each of them had a very distinctive visual style.

I always liked the Deathclaws from the first fallouts. nothing says "your fucked, start over" like seven hits in a row from a tough deathclaw

Special/Secret bosses, or other "human" characters. It's just so much more meaningful to mercilessly beat an enemy that has their own goals and aspirations

Andrew Ryan from Bioshock. He was a smart and tough opponent (at least, when you're not next to him with a golf club)

Evila, the evil robot clone of Ulala (Space Channel 5). I love that "fight".

I always like the "boss-fight" enemies that weren't actually bosses.

Playing cat and mouse with a Gargantua in Half-Life

The David vs Goliath battle of fighting a Tank in L4D. (presumably while it's being controlled by a competent human)

Trying to take down an Assault class 'Mech with a group of scout 'Mechs. (in any MechWarrior, MechAssault, or MechCommander game)

Pushing back a horde of Ultralisks or Carriers using nothing more than Marines and Medics.

Essentially, what I'm saying is, I've always preferred enemies that pose a significant threat and require creative thinking, adaptability, and lightning quick reflexes. Ones that, if you falter even the slightest, result in a "game over" kind of situation.

Though, my single favorite "enemy" in any game from any time would undoubtedly have to be GLaDOS. She promised me cake. Put me through hell to get it. Then took it away. So I killed her. However, she had the audacity to survive.

Big Daddies. They remind me of whales: gentle and big, but mighty fucking ferocious when they have to be.

I really wish I didn't have to kill them. They're the first enemy to invoke that "live-and-let-live" sentiment in me. I really hate when they don't have a Little Sister, and they're just wandering Rapture with that occasional depressive-sounding moan...

The headless suicide bombers off Serious Sam are quite awesome, they're really ineffective and fun to watch being blown to pieces.

One of my all time favourites would have to be the Bladed Aatxes in Guild Wars, just because trapping them was so much fun. You could trap other enemies too, but these were always my favourite because they can kill you in 2-3 hits.

Kefka.

Because he's KEFKA, motherfuckers!
That's FF6 right? I still need to play that game D:

Anyway, one of my favorite video game villains of recent memory was Saren, although he wasn't all that fun to fight to be honest.

Doctor Robotnik was always a consistently fun boss to fight though, so I guess I'll go with that.

I love fighting striders in Half-life 2. Some of the fights are so frustratingly difficult to get through, but I do enjoy trying to out maneuver them, and figure out how to get more rocket launcher ammo.
