Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles.
Final Fantasy 6 is second.
My girlfriend bought me a copy of Crystal Chronicles for my birthday. I haven't started playing it yet because I am still working my way through Tales of Symphonia.

I love Final Fantasy VI. I love it because it tells a simple story very well and packs it with endearing characters we come to care about. I love it because the gameplay is easy to learn but never so easy as to be boring. I love it because the graphics and music express a lot with comparatively little to work with. And I love it because it's one of the first RPGs I ever played.

I also love Final Fantasy Tactics, because it's so deep that I can dive in it forever.

I have soft spots for Final Fantasies VIII and IX, the former for its admirable if unrealized ambition, and the latter for its wistful, melancholy tone.

I don't think I've ever had less fun playing a video game than I had while playing Final Fantasy XII. I think it's an obscenely well-made disaster.

IV. Simple gameplay system, yet very effective. All of the ultimate weapons are in the final dungeon too (at least in SNES version), which is convenient, although you still have to explore the dungeon itself to find them. The "final five", as I like to call them, are extremely likable, save for Rosa, maybe. Although Palom/Porom and Edward annoy the hell out of me, and Yang was "meh". Also, the game starts off with standard FF fare, then ends up with you fighting on the moon against what is essentially a spaghetti monster. I mean, that's a pretty drastic change, even for a FF game.

Second for me is VII, then XIII.

In terms of the ones I've played:

X
Tactics
VI
X-2

I enjoyed them all, but I'd rank them in this order.

Vi and VII are tied for my favorite. Both tell amazing stories with great characters and fantastic gameplay. Right below those is X, then XIII, and more going down from that.

Probably Tactics Advanced.

Sure, some of the others were great but...

I just felt that I had the most fun with the least played.

I know it's a little cliche and can definitely draw some height from the more diehard fans to the series... but mine would have to be FFVII. Too many good memories playing that game with friends. Drunken nights full of complete debauchery and playing through the night and well into the next morning all for a 100% game that we could never have achieved. We missed a mime materia in the tunnels because we were drunk. Ah well.. worth it!

I only played VII, VIII, and X. VII's excessive fanbase and emo main character annoyed me. VIII's damsel in distress and crappy villains irritated me. X has a main character I wanted to murder and really obnoxious minigames at those temples.

With that said... FFX's ending alone sells it above the other two as far as I am concerned, much less its better combat system and lack of either an obnoxious fan base like VII has or a character cast of
orphans
in FFVIII

So, FFX wins for me.

When choosing "favorite" games, I'm not sure it's possible to separate one's nostalgia from one's opinion. If I was forced to step back and look at the series completely objectively, I might conclude that there are "better" games in the series that my beloved Final Fantasy VI. But I'm not forced to do that, nor is anyone else, so we might as well all curl up with our memories and tell kids who disagree with us to get off our lawn.

Also: debauchery while playing Final Fantasy VII? Interesting.

Final Fantasies 3, 4 and 6. I really liked the early ones, out of the later ones, I would say 9. I haven't got 13 yet, i'll probably wait though, until I pick it up cheap and I have actually got my PS3 with me.

I have to say FF5 i loved the class change in it, it was the only FF i found the class change to work. A close second is FF6 because the story was so epic.

Final Fantasy X. One of just three games I have gone back to play on my PS2 since getting my Xbox 360 add with that a Wii and PC and why would I go back? (Other 2 are Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2)

Probobly been said >9000 times. But VII. Was anyone really surprised?
But in joint 2nd, I'll go for FFIII on DS(Which I adored) and FFVI.

It took my Final Fantasy cherry, so I have to go with Final Fantasy VII. I still love the game to this day. Having said that X and IX give it a good run for its money. I can't say I'm as much of a fan of VI as most people though. Having said that it is still awesome.

1)Tactics.(War of the Lions to be exact)
2) 7. I enjoyed that one quite alot. Plus, it had motorcycle duels. Need I say more?
3)Which ever one kills FF13 and brings me it's amazingly rendered head on a platter.
