Considering I haven't played a Final Fantasy game that came before VII (but I've played every non-spin-off non-multiplayer Final Fantasy game after VI), my favorite is XIII. I really didn't expect to like it. In fact, I expected to hate it. Quite frankly, I'm still surprised that I don't. However, it's just really really good.

I've played 7-10(and origins, tactics, and CC) and the best BY FAR is FF9...BTW, whats up with ppl thinking CC was a good game? I bought it a few years back and i just hated it. Worst FF game ever.

Depends what im in the mood for, currently alternating between XIII, V, and Tactics, but sometimes also VI, also VII. Cant realy make a definite choice between them.

i like FF VI best of all, the cast, the story, an the fact that game had the stones to destroy the world half way through, which is more then pretty much every other FF villain can say, also Terra, all time fave FF character

FF V: love the options you get for your party in this game, you can do pretty much anything you want, dragoon that knows summon magic? done. want a better version of a paladin, easy, the combonations are limited only by what you want your party to do. as for story and characters, story's good, an the characters are decent, even if the sisters are the only ones i remember :p

FF IV : this ones all about story, was interesting from the opening scene an the twist, while a touch tacted on feeling, was still surprising enough to make it interesting. also, the music for the elemental fiend battles, awsome :3

and an honurable mention gose to ...
FF Mystic Quest
not the best, an largely over look cause its, basicly to easy, but its fun, the cast is fairly interesting, the sound track pretty much owns, particularly the boss theme :3 that and enemys changed as HP got lower, falling over, losing limbs in some cases ( plant an skeletal enemys mostly) but you could tell your where wearing them down it its a nice touch not seen at the time, also, the Dragon Claw, weakest damage wise, but try to inflict EVERY status problem in the game, including stone o.0 . you can not like a game that GIVES you a weapon this OP, as a plot device, its illegal XD

VIII without a doubt. VII to X were the best, but VIII stands out above them imo ^^
Best characters, best storyline, best battle system, etc etc etc.
I wish the discs still worked :'(

I really don't like XI, XII or by the looks of it, XIII though. Enix destroyed Final Fantasy in my opinion.

I'm on and off with Final Fantasy, but usually on. I've played almost every one of the numeral games and a few spin-offs. That said my favorite is still Final Fantasy Tactics. It had far and away the best story in the series, the hero had a naive noble to political/religious dissident transition without being whiny, the lines of ally and enemy were often unclear and I liked the system (even though the way I play has broken the game over it's own face, making it ludicrously easy).

If we're going with numeral games only: I think IX may have just been beaten out by XIII. I really liked the gameplay and most of the characters. I absolutely adored the art direction and setting. The story can be a bit unclear at times, but I liked it for the most part. It was a fantastic iteration. IX I also thought had one of the best casts of any of the games, a great, quirky art style, was a throw-back to the old fantasy setting and had a fun story to boot.

I would also like to mention the glorious fan service that was Dissidia. I enjoy the crap out of that game. It's a fun, cool-looking brawl of a game and it allows me to beat the shit out of Tidus with Golbez, so I'm cool with that too.

FF 7 for me. Mainly because it is the only one I have played except for FF3. Also i think sephiroth is awsome.

FF VIII which is the first one I played. People tend to like the first one they played more than the rest

FF IX. I like everything about it. The music, the characters, how you gain abilities, the surroundings. I don't think there is a thing about it that I don't like.

FFX.

I've played every single one except XIII. FFX has no definitive factor that made it stand out above the rest beyond major graphical upgrades, but rather a lack of the unique flaws in the rest of the Playstation generation. Best battle system and soundtrack of the series, too.

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles.
Final Fantasy 6 is second.
If we're counting spinoffs, then I have to agree, CC is really awesome.

I just wish they'd give us a proper version that would allow for online co-op play. Like the GCN version, just with online capabilities.
Then to go with this, FF Adventure (GB), FF, FF5, and FF13. Also, to count that series, I'll go with Secret of Mana (Spinoff sequel to FF Adventure.)

And yes, Vaan looks like a girl. He sucks.
So do most of the male characters in Final Fantasy.

On topic I'd have to say ten. It was my first and I don't care how much people dislike it. I think it's charming.
