Current favourite's are: Darkthrone, Mayhem, Burzum, Emperor, Bathory, Gorgoroth, Ulver, Taake, Marduk, Satyricon and Tsjuder.

Been going on a bit of a black metal binge the past three weeks, should start adding more bands to my list eventually.

I think I saw one person who answered the question for "death metal" and everyone else who answered a mixture between deathcore, metalcore, nu metal, and trendy black metal.

Dying Fetus.
Origin.
Nile.
Suffocation.
Devourment.

Message me for more if you are interested.
Finally someone with good taste

I mentioned all of those except Devourment, but I've been trying to get into them lately.
Kudos to you good sir. Devourment is a classic Brutal Death Metal band up there with Goratory, Deeds of Flesh, and Disgorge.

I've heard they have went on a break, due to a member needing counselling.

Honestly people, stop recommending the same mainstream metalcore/thrash bands.
Most of the stuff you mentioned there.
Some folk metal is always nice, though.
Finntroll, Ensiferum, Korpiklaani, Eluveitie..
Mors Principium Est and Opeth (Progressive death?) are some favorites too.
