I favor Picard.

Kirk was a barbarian, the rest are not even note-worthy enough to have a remarkable role.

Besides he just has the best voice ever. That being said: Mr. Pearlman you will have your apology letter in the mail soon.

Seriously Picard. He made it cool to be bald. Well, if not cool, at least ... not not cool.

Picard. Easily Picard. He was the most invested in the role. He really seems like a captain. All the other seasons, I had to wait for someone to say "Captain etc." for me to figure it out. Picard really has a sense of command about him.

Torn between Sisko and and Picard. I think both are strong leaders (and good actors playing them) but Picard sometimes seem to try to hard for the peaceful route when they might have done better firing the first shot for once. Very diplomatic, which I like but in some cases...like the first couple encounters with the Borg, was not the best tactic. Sisko was much more decisive but I can't help but think he wouldn't be too much fun the serve under.

You're honestly able to say Avery Brooks / Benjamin Sisko is not noteworthy? Brooks is a great actor, A-List in my opinion, and the character Sisko is the ONLY captain to punch Q.
Sisko was a good captain....

The only problem is that I've seen very few episodes of DS9..*goes to Amazon.com*......Hold on.....

*gulp*.....Hmmm....It looks like I'll have to wait on further educating myself on DS9 until I have actual money (that stuff's expensive!)

How can you guys talking about his command ability and diplomatic skill favour him over Jellico?

Picard is charismatic, no-nonsense, has a great voice, is very diplomatic (which is what the Federation is all about), and speaks with a British accent.

Jellico did not demonstrate any of those abilities, and is thus not as good as Picard.

Also, Picard wasn't an arrogant person....Just rather aloof towards everyone.

Jellico ran a tight ship and improved the productivity of the Enterprise-D in the short time he was captain. Look at how Geordi La Forge and other whining incompetents were when asked to do something that was perfectly achieveable and there was no excuse for it not having been done years ago. Jellico was right, Starfleet standards were acceptable, but if it could be done better then why not?

Jellico might have been less forgiving than Picard, but to me that only adds more reasons to count him the better captain.

The Borg queen. Lets face it she was the most cutthroat, intolerent, effective and rational of them all.
Actually yea she is great. I would also like to add that Riker was really good.
I actually would have said Q if he were a captain... but hes not. Though out of all the Star Trek characters he is my favourite overall and hes just barely above Shinzon and the Borg queen who are actually a tie.

Jean Luc Picard isn't terribly British though :)
