You cant even get all your vitamins from only vegetables and theres difference between eating burgers and eating actual meat like roast chicken / steaks.

Not having a balanced diet of fresh veg and good meats is more like child abuse.

As far as I care, PETA may as well be a terrorist organisation... forcing scare tactics on people to get them to stop eating meat? Goes against what they themselves stand for.

They're free to tell me not to do something but I'm just as free to tell them to mind their own business.

Not feeding your child meat would be closer to child abuse? How so? Seems like most of the latest data available from top scientists and nutritionists would support what PETA is saying; though I will admit that I think PETA is a bit over the top.

Here's some "facts" to back it up:

http://www.eatright.org/About/Content.aspx?id=8357

http://www.pcrm.org/health/veginfo/veg_diets_for_children.html

I mean, the American Dietetic Association and the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine are pretty well respected organizations that tend to know more about nutrition than, say, the average family with obese children.

I see some of my friends with kids feed their children God-awful things, allow them to subsist on a diet of mainly candy, and then encourage already overweight children to "clean their plate" - maybe we need a little more common sense and vegetables and a bit less meat and candy.

Just sayin'
'
I dont know if you mis-understood, I believe meat should be part a varied diet not just a meat and candy diet.

I?m not going to bother looking at your links. I know for a fact a balanced diet is better than no meat at all.

There has been a number of vegans that have let their kids die from malnutrition, due to lack of protein and other important substances from a varied diet.

http://www.ctv.ca/CTVNews/Health/20110330/france-vegan-child-death-110330/

A fillet of fish can have less calories than an apple. Just sayin'.
First, the vegan couple killed their kid through refusing to hospitalize her, fed her only breast milk, and the death had nothing to do with a vegan diet at all - way to check your sources.

Second, since you won't bother looking at links providing evidence because you somehow already know it all any further conversation with you is fruitless.

Third, caloric intake of apples vs fish has nothing to do with anything I said.

Just sayin'

Type in "Kill it cook it eat it" into youtube... a great show in the UK where they slaughter, butcher then cook animals in front of a live studio audience, then feed it to them... that show did more than Peta ever could. I eat meat, but if you really care about the little animals, then you won't eat meat after this show.

I would have posted a video, but I don't want to antagonise any veggies

Scratch that, I've found one which doesn't contain anything offensive

I think my meal tonight will be 100%, just to piss them off, if they only knew.

I like how they do this nontheless, every doctor with half of his education from a proper place, will tell you that vegetarian and vegan diets can't sustain the human body, lack of among other thing, protein (can be acquired from nuts) Calcium if they decide not to drink milk.

and various vitamins, it is essentially child abuse NOT to feed them meat, and milk, and a diet that's actually able to sustain the body, and a rapidly growing body at that.

If PETA's members want to be vegan, they can do that all they want. But don't go around saying everyone who wishes to eat meat is wrong. I enjoy a balanced diet of meat, veg and fruit and i don't consider myself to have a nutrition problem at all (i could do to go to the gym maybe). I also know vegans who have health problems related to the fact they don't eat anything to do with an animal and i personally aren't prepared to pay the price.

I admit i'm abit overweight like a lot of people but it isn't meat that causes that...it's more the fact i don't exercise lol (partially cause i'm lazy and partially because i have asthma which gets fairly bad when i do exercise, i never notice it at all when i don't so i don't). I love meat and i don't intend to give it up any time soon, i think PETA should just go crawl back into the cave where it came from.

The younger you are, the more you need fats, iron, and protein.
Meat is one of the best source of all of them.
Not letting children have meat is abuse.
/thread.
Seriously, you just won.
exactly... unless you want your child downing protein shakes for dinner... give them some meat every now and again.
I cant believe this is even an issue!

This kind of stuff really sets me off. Why do these organisations have to lie and exaggerate to try and push their agenda? Go Go gadget, mini-fox news.

I don't mind if PETA wants to go nuts over animal rights, but spreading misinformation and inciting ignorance is far more abusive than eating meat.

Interesting point of view, I would have appreciated it if my parents hadn't given me meat when I was younger before I realised just how morally wrong it is.
