I really like how everyone is 'get over it' rather than 'the guy is being inappropriate'.
Is it a mountain over a mole-hill? That's purely subjective. But if she feels violated, she feels violated. It's the griefer who should be punished, not her.
Edit: That said, no, it's not sexual assault. It's sexual harassment, though, and we ignore this kind of thing at our peril. Just because it's a virtual world doesn't suddenly mean social norms fly out the window.
Social norms don't really fly out the window, but there's a different
set of social norms. Just like how if I were to fly over to Japan or Germany, suddenly there's a whole different list of what is and isn't acceptable to do in public. Some things would be more strict where other things would be more lenient. Online is no different.
The guy was an idiot, no one is denying this. The thing is, there's really no reasonable way to deal with the problem without an unreasonable cost on Sony's part. Not having Home (or even a PS3 for that matter), I can't really say what the moderation process is like, but more than likely by the time a moderator would have shown up to do anything about it, the guy would have moved-on. The only possible way to have an instant reaction speed would be if Sony hired one moderator for every tiny area of Home. The only problem with this is that it simply isn't reasonable in an online format. Sure it's fine to hire a cop IRL to watch some venue while nothing happens, because if something DOES happen, then someone actually will get hurt (or have goods lost, or whatever). With online though, honestly, nothing happened.
Well ok, so the player's
feelings were hurt. But are we seriously worried about this? Someone is far too emotional for their own good, so now Sony needs to hire an exessively-large crack team of uber-mods who can watch every corner of Home at every second lest someone's
feelings get hurt? Was the person making the complaint in this article a 5-year-old? No? Then she can get over it.
Yes, the guy was a douche and a moron. But in all reality (or in this case virtuality?

), he did nothing wrong.
