Jesus people, are you serious? Ashley Williams? Alyx Vance? Zoey?
They are all very attractive women with perfectly symetrical faces, flawless figures and no physical defects at all. Just because they aren't presented in overtly sexual way, doesn't mean they're not beautiful.

The truth is good looking people provoke more sympathy and that's why they're always be protagonists.
I was thinking this

... >_> They are always be protagonists?

Neeshka from NWN2. She is so not conventionally attractive, but her personality and sheer cheerfulness really won me over. Her sarcasm towards both Casavir and Bishop made me a happy Tolly, especially Casavir. (The man has no personality, and my character is supposed to adore him? Bollocks to that. Give me Gann any day. Mmmmmmm.)

Lumia Waber from Phantasy Star Universe et al. She's more cute than beautiful, but she's got balls of steel (heh) and a surprisingly strong personality. (Even more so if you've seen the animated comics over on the official site. Go Lumia!) Plus it's funny watching Ethan have fits whenever he sees her with Hyuga.

I thought Moria was pretty cool and I would hang out with her if she wasn't just 1's and 0's

Anya from Gears of War, good character, very cortana-esque, wouldn't say she's attractive.

Tali from Mass Effect, she could be attractive, don't-know-don't-care, still an awesome character.

I agree one hundred percent. The old, young, and beautiful seem to illicit the strongest sympathy as a protagonist we can connect to. I feel the idea that a protagonist must be physically faultless to be one of the major flaws of the entertainment industry, especially the gaming industry.

The gaming industry is some strides in that they have the ability to mold faultless characters from computers and if you think about it, it takes more time and effort for them to create the subtle, human flaws seen in real life.

Alyx, gah.
Butterfaaaace

I'm adding Nina from Tekken. So ugly, but she can fight so that's cool.

hmmm... what other amazingly gorgeous women do I find unattractive...
wait what's this thread about?

Ashley was a bit too racist/religious for my taste.

Anyway, female video game characters are unattractive to me, but I've still yet to come across one I actually liked that much.

Except, of course, Kreia.
Ew, old lady, but goddamn if she isn't badass. She'd take your grandmother and break her in half.
With the Force, bitches.
I liked the way they presented Ashely's racism, in a way that you can tell she's not a bad person, just brought up that way and trying to change it.

As for Kreia, I agree. As I've said before, it's hard to get the cryptic-as-hell thing right, but Kreia nailed it.

EDIT:

That's true. I forgot about her, but she was actually one of my favorite characters.

Definitely. "Plain"-looking women are rare in film, so why would game developers go out of their way to make a female character look "plain" when they could make the perfect dream-girl?

The Boss from MGS3. She's beautiful I guess but her toughness, in both her appearance and personality, makes her less conventionally beautiful. She's a fantastic character.

My all time favorite of female characters was The Boss from MGS3. I will NOT concede my opinion.

Also, Alice in American McGee's Alice. Anyone who's even seen artwork or trailers for the game will understand, even if they've not played it yet...
I like this. I'd probably avoid her in real life due to the awful mental scars and general insanity, but she's still awesome!

True, The Boss was awesome. She wasn't out-and-out beautiful, but that just made her cooler. She was hardcore awesome and we all know it.
