This thread needs moar Kefka. When was the last time where a villain actually succeeded in destroying the world? Seppy has NOTHING on that. Kuja gets a mention for also destroying a world, but Kefka was first.

Auron. Looked awesome, acted awesome, was actually a dead guy who was also a dream. Had sweet overdrive moves too.


Worst? Vanille, Paine, Wakka, Yuffie, Tifa, and most of the IX cast. Don't get me wrong, IX is one of the finest Final Fantasy's around, but the characters were ugly and annoying.

EDIT: Also, Quina. Fuck him.

Best: Auron, Kain, Vivi, Kefka, The Turks, Squall, Locke, Kuja, Zidane, Cid from FFVII.

Worst: Ultimecia - hey, it's a villain with no motivations or backstory that inexplicably becomes the main baddie about half-way through!
Selphie - utterly irritating. Glad she was before the time of voice acting, she'd almost have been as annoying as
Rikku - good god, shut the fuck up.
Vanille - x2
Zell - "hey look, i'm a tough guy, but really, i'm hiding a vagina in my pocket"
Cloud / Tidus - "hey look, i'm meant to be the protagonist, but i have no fucking idea what's going on at any point in the game, and no personality whatsoever"
Wakka - "Hi, I'm John DiMaggio, and I'm going to test this voice out to see if I'll ever use it on Futurama. Oh wait, I shouldn't, because that would be really irritating"

Best Hero: Cloud Strife(FF7). I know I'm going to get flamed by the "Anti FF7 Force" but whatever. He doesn't care about the planet. He doesn't care about too many people. People call who call him emo most likely haven't played past disc one. In reality Cloud's story is one of revenge. He's going after the man who destroyed his hometown, killed his mother, his best friend's father, an innocent friend (Aerith), and caused his life to be a massive mess. You call him emo, I call him a guy with the shittiest cards in hand. He wasn't an honoured knight, a happy thief, or some loner who got to go to a prestigious school. He's just a mercenary who wants to bring an end to the one person who's fucked up is life royally.

Best Villian: Gabranth A.K.A. Noah fon Ronsenburg (FFXII)
Now before you guys say, "FFXII sucked", I fully agree. FFXII suck the big one. But the personal story between Basch and Gabranth was spectacular. Gabranth was an a personal quest to end the life of the man who had forsaken his country, and his family. Ultimately Gabranth's story is one of pride. He seems to be the only Judge Magister who deserves their rank. As possibly the FF Series' most underrated villian, (Sorry Kefka fans but a Joker ripoff doesn't count.) He chose to become such a strong warrior for the empire in order to show Basch how far the pride of one man can take someone. Right up until the end Gabranth fights full force, whether it be the party of FFXII, or Vayne Solidor himself.


Best Side Character: Baltheir. Do I need to even explain?

Worst Hero: Tie between Vaan and Hope. See above.

Worst Villian:Vayne Solidor. The most non-involved villian in the entire series. He shows up for literally minutes of cutscene and really had no other motive than to control The Undying.

Ive only played 13 but Hope and Snow are just so annoying. Hope has the emotional stability of a recovering heroine adictict with bi-polar disorder and Snow randomly fist pumps in every cutscene.

Favorite: Vincent Valentine. Yes he's overly-moody (but not as bad as Cloud or Squall), but he is probably as sexy as a fictional character can get so I can overlook that.

Worst: Every single "perky female character" ever.

I love Red XII. Sure, I forgot his real name, but I still remember that song that played in cosmo canyon and the touching story of his fathers valiant death in battle.

Best: Zack, Rinoa, Zidane, almost everyone in XII, Tidus, Yuna, Hope
Worst: Almost everyone in VII, Zell, Ashe, Vayne

Just gotta say, because I've seen a lot of people say that Sephiroth didn't hardly do anything, that I believe he did something much more impressive than any Final Fantasy villian, which is kill a playable character. That used to not happen too often. Now it happens five times in one game, but back in the day that was a bold move. I took Sephiroth very seriously after that shit went down. Who cares how many random civilians a villian kills? They all do that. Sephiroth took it to the next level, folks.

I liked all the characters of FFXIII, what's wrong with Snow? I mean sure he lets out a few "LETS BE HEROES OMGSH" lines but he's overall not a bad character.

Well I aint done Thirteen yet, but as far as favourite characters go, its kinda tough to pinpoint just one, even from each game.

Well, I've always been a fan of Vivi - he'll always have a special place for me. Others include Steiner and Auron, as well as Red XIII. I loved the voice they gave him in Advent Children, wished he had more lines in it tbh.

As far as the dislikes go.. Well one stands out and is a popular choice for least liked in Cait Sith. I know FF's are, in essence, fantastical and all, but this guy just seemed far too unrealistic to me.. Even for an FF. That, and as mentioned, his limits sucked.

With the villains, seems most people are shifting between Sephiroth and Kuja.. Both are excellent, but I have to lean on the Kuja side here. That guy was just genuinely creepy and just oozed evil - Sephiroth though gets a mention because he did kill off a main character, that still sits with me as the biggest 'wtf' moment in a game for me lol.

Worst villain - Seymour. Sorry, Seymour fans, but it just seemed so forced and I didn't find him mysterious or creepy at all. Just ended up feeling... Weird.

Worst: Hope, cloud and tidus *shivers* just saying their names gives me an aneurysm. I'd love to see them in front of a firing line.

Worst has to be. . . Actually I dunno, I never really liked Squall especially since he's a main character, but Hope has gotta be up there somewhere; screw Vanille, I find Hope far more annoying
