Final Fantasy Characters: Best And Worst

Take a guess as to who my favourite FF character is.
Also, worst: Sephiroth.

He's overrated and what the hell did he ever do in comparison to Kuja? Killed a village of people? ALMOST destroyed one city? PAH! Kuja obliterated an entire different plane of existence in less then 5 minutes, he also essentially ended all life as we know it.
Sephiroth really is just an overrated momma's boy.

Wooo! Another Kuja fan!

I actually like him too, but I tried not to name "All of FFIX" as my favorite just because I knew I was either going to say 8 or 12 or both as my worst. He actually has a reason to turn (completely) evil, and you actually see him do it in the story line (as opposed to before or after). My only problem with him was that it was the first "trap" I feel into, but then, everyone I know had the same reaction about that.

Auron (Bad. Ass.)
Squall ('cause Gunblades are cool)
Dr. Cid (hilarious villain; "The reigns of history back in the hands of Man." is actually a respectable goal, all things considered)

Honorable Mention: "It is I, Gilgamesh!" The only time I would describe anyone as being "made of win" lol

Least Favorites:
Sephiroth (WAY too overrated, the "I Hate It Because of How You Love It" or the "Twilight" syndrome)
Paine ('cause she represents all that is unholy and wrong, a.k.a. FFX-2)

(Un)honorable mention: Seymour (disqualified because that's how you're suppose to react to him)

Edit: I forgot Vaan under "Worst" (He added NOTHING to the story what-so-ever. Should have made Basch the main character...at least he was somewhat of a badass in his own right)

Not really no. Most DBZ badguys seemed to be Snidley Whiplash evil. Kuja actually has motivations and personality flaws.

 

[OneHP]

Fang(XIII), Cid(VII) and Vincent(VII) for my favourites.

I think the visual design for Fang is particularly brilliant.

Hope(XIII) and Rosch(XIII).

Rosch's blind zeal just seems pointless, no explanation offered for his motivations.

 

[The DSM]

Best: Auron in X, hes so bad ass.

Worst: Its a draw between Tidus(Meg Ryan)from X and Vanille from 13 for having really annoying voices.

 

[Hazy]

The best evil character to ever grace a Final Fantasy title will always be Kefka.
One of the greatest Final Fantasy, neigh, one of the greatest villains of all time.
Other nods go to Shadow, Locke, Celes, Edg- Fuck it, the entire cast of FF VI. All phenomenal.

Also have to hand it Cecil, Cid, Tifa. But... There's one who tops allothers:

Really... How can you not love this guy?
He's incredibly well written, flawed and fallible, and has a wardrobe that cannot be topped.
Not only that, but he's incredibly efficient in battle.
This is one of those times where the sidekick is infinitely cooler than the hero.

Least favorite is... Ugh... Tidus.

Best: Sephiroth, as the most compelling villian. No other villian has ever made me go "OH SHIT" when appearing on screen, and villians are always my favorites. Maybe Kuja did more damage, but seemed to me he was little more than a comic relief character. Not intimidating in the least.

Close second best: Vivi. He's cute!

Worst: VANILLE. AHHHHH SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP SHUT UP.

Second worst: Rikku. SHUT UP.

Worst villian: Seymore. Ruined by his own name. As a Simpsons fan, how am I supposed to take that guy seriously? AND STOP SMILING.

Most ridiculous hat: The old villian guy from XIII. Also has the most sterotypical evil laugh. But at least I care if he dies.

Best: Entire cast of FFVI, Sazh, Vivi, Freya

Worst: Cloud, Sephiroth, Squall, Vaan (why shouldnt he be here)

 

[Danzaivar]

Sephiroth has been hyped up beyond any sane level, but you have to admit when he shows up it's got more "oh crap, were screwed" than basically any other villain. Even if he is pretty one-dimensional.

Zidane takes the place of being my favourite character though. Can't put my finger on why but he's my favourite by miles.

Worst would be Wakka, or Selphie.

Worst: Tidus and Cloud(because they whine like no ones business)

Sephiroth has been hyped up beyond any sane level, but you have to admit when he shows up it's got more "oh crap, were screwed" than basically any other villain. Even if he is pretty one-dimensional.

I'm thinking that's because your first experience is as follows.

You go to sleep in a jail cell, expecting to somehow break yourself out when you wake up. When you wake up, your door is open and the guard has been brutally murdered. You step outside to see that the entire building is painted with blood. It almost makes you want to either go down the elevator or hole up in the safe jail cell. You follow the blood to see the guy who smugly had you arrested dead with an 8 foot long sword impaling him to his desk.

Wooo! Another Kuja fan!

Out of all the villains in the Final Fantasy universe, actually, hell out of all the characters in the FF universe, Kuja stands as my favourite.
He has a real motivation, real reasons for being evil, real reasons for hating the world and numerous personality flaws, honestly, out of all of them I feel that Kuja is the most "human" of the lot, he's the one that can be most related to, he's suffered betrayal beyond measure, crippling loneliness and is ultimately doomed to die from something entirely out of his control and because of it, he looses his mind.

He reacts in a similar way that most people would, he snaps, he grows increasingly insane and increasingly evil, but you always know why, you know his backstory and I never really hated him for what he did, out of everyone I feel that he had the most depth and scale.

TBH, I've played 1-3, 7, 8, and 12 and I've found nearly all the characters to be atrocious. Especially:

Zell - Most annoying person ever

Squall - Far too emo for his own good and never shuts up about it

Sephiroth - for being over-hyped and really just your typical FF villain

Every character from FFXII for having atrocious voice acting and either one-dimensional or no personality to speak of.

If I had to pick a favorite, it would be the Heroes of Light from game 1 because they didn't say anything to make me hate them. That or Laguna for having the best battle music in any game and being just goofy enough to not be annoying but still be entertaining.

I mostly play FF games for the musical score and because they're generally solid Turn-based RPGs. That said, I really have no desire to even attempt to get XIII.
