The only reason I said it was becuase lately there has been many threads saying that sexism has turned in the favour of women. They are full of people who agree with the OP 100%...

The fact that you all think this is hilarious after those threads end up being 10 pages long is slightly odd to me.

But I guess you all don't really think its true... You can't compain about men being treated as the clowns in commercials and suchlike if something like this, which is actually derogatry to men, is laughed off. I kind of find the fact that the boyfriend doesn't even have a name slightly horrific and I'm a woman.
Didn't notice the reverse sexism thread.

I don't think it's true at all. Women become more independent as the years go on and blokes get put in our place, which we sometimes need, and thats about it.

For instance, my missus is the boss of our house. What she says goes. I wouldn't want it any other way.

She keeps the house going and knows what bills go when and what needs paying and when whereas I just nod and smile. Left up to me the house would collapse and we'd be left eating the bloody pets.

I'm useless, i'm man enough to admit it. Without my wife i'd be lost.

Joined the army straight from school at 16 and left at 28 so never had to worry about any of that. She lived on her own from 15 and she's 5 years older than me so has more experience of dealing with the day to day running of the house.

I do the cooking and cleaning and sort the kids out because I work from home now and she's a nurse working long hours.

I feel I do my fair share of things but with my wifes guidance.

As far as crap like the "game for girls", I just find it impossible to look at in a serious manner (although I struggle to take many things seriously).

Great...

Thankfully, most women I know would rather play The Sims.
You mean the game that teaches you that the path to a happy and fulfilled life is owning more and more expensive possessions?

But in its defense, at least that's an accurate depiction of middle-class life...or at least the life all advertisers are trying to sell to us.

I'm laughing and being horrified at the same time. It is hilarious in its stupidity,
but sadly a lot of young girls would want to play it, since they think appearance and a boyfriend is all that matters.

I see it as a game for young Paris Hilton fans that simply don't know better,
and I can imagine trophy wives buying it for their daughters,
but intelligent beings should do all they can to talk them out of it...
"Trophy wives"

what are you, an alpha male?
Disliking a term doesn't make a phenomenon disappear from society.

From time to time, unintelligent, uneducated, young, highly physically attractive women sometimes still marry rich older men. They then sometimes adopt a sense of entitlement, as if their husband's accomplishments are their own. Someone could go through all the description I just did, or they could just use the appropriate term... "trophy wife". If they choose option B, that makes them succinct, not sexist.

I didn't call him sexist, I just asked a question in return to his phrasing

Was I supposed to laugh at this? Because I did. A lot.

Although I imagine this "game" is going to be ignored by its target audience and tried by everyone else just for laughs.
This.

And for the record I am female and I do enjoy shooting things and exploring alien worlds. A lot. I also enjoy mercilessly hacking monsters to bits in medieval settings and creeping along rooftops to skillfully assassinate my targets.

Good thing this article is tongue-in-cheek, even if it wasn't I don't think I could take it seriously.

I don't know don't video games for guys do sort of the same thing, assuming all we want to do is destroy and slaughter? (although this assumption has a stronger basis in fact)

Yes. I find it highly offensive. But since the game is already so sexist to women.... it's just generally a sexist stereotypical game that treats everyone like idiots.

what it is that makes a true, strong, independent lady: shopping, hairstyles, and having a boyfriend.
Oh wow. I don't even know what to say... Actually having a boyfriend is not that much of a proof that you are independent, now is it? Quite opposite.

How ever I just looove the way this writer is being sarcastic as hell:

- Change my hairstyle, getting two "cool" pigtails in black.
- Buy at least one thing I like from a store in the mall.
- Rent my own apartment.

I'm well on my way to being good enough!
:D
"You don't have a boyfriend at the moment! Visit the Club and go flirting, you might meet someone hot."

Shit, I'm incomplete on so many levels! No boyfriend?! So it's straight to the enigmatically named Club.

Disscussion value/ question:
Why in the world do people still make games like this?
What are your responses?
What possible effect to you think this game could have?
1) Because its the kind of thing that a lot of twelve year old girls want to play.

2) Dont care since I am not twelve and its not targeted at me.

3) None. It is just another game in a sea of very similar ones that have been coming out for years and years. I can remember seeing things like this ten years ago so its not going to suddenly change things now.
If I had a young daughter I would not want to give her a game which tells her the most important things are her looks and how much her bf makes.

If she liked dress up I would give her the sims 3 where she can be anything from a doctor to a hairdresser. Not a 'cookiegirl' whatever the hell that is.

I'm shocked more of you male escapists aren't completely offended by the boyfriend part tbh.
Car washer is a hero to us all.

I object to them including Julia Louis-Dreyfus on the right side. She was independent and employed in Seinfeld. If anything, she was just one of the guys.

Oh that... That's just silly. Nothing more to be said, really.

This can't be serious. What were the developers smoking when they decided to add a witch into this game?!
The evil witch has been hiding the Ghost city for centuries and no one has succeeded in breaking the spell yet. With every passing year, and with each of the thousands of unsuccessful attempts to break the spell, the witch becomes stronger and is now more powerful than before.
Yeah, what on earth were they thinking putting an evil being with supernatural powers into such a girly setting?

This "game" exists, and is not trolling. Therefore, there must be a reason that the developers believe teenage girls are like this.
One of these reasons could be that there are some teenage girls who are like this.
Therefore, this game is a deep and powerful story about the death of natural selection. You are now breathing manually.

That is hilariously stupid. Why anyone would play this is beyond me. And "Car Washer"? Can't they think of a first and last name at least, and what's with the meeting people at a club to get a boyfriend? That's just...wow--I'll just withhold the rest of my opinion.

...So you go to the club to pick up a pimp? I have to say settling for a car washer pimp doesn't seem like the best choice.
