I don't get some reviewers. they talk about what an improvement it is over halo 3 but give it a lower score. It doesn't bother me that much though as I find the written review to be more important than the score and all the written reviews have nothing but good things to say.
That's a good sign, actually- they're looking at it as a real game, rather than the hype. Because almost no game should get a 10/10, unless they're rating for specific criteria. That's why people use 10/10- or 100/100 - they can be more specific, and don't need to give a vague "Five stars" to a better title.
Don't get me wrong, I love the Halo series. But I skipped ODST because I don't have Live, and want a good campaign experience. I'll have to look at the game rating myself, because I was deeply disappointed by the Halo 3 campaign...

I'm not going to the Midnight release since I have School in the morning, but I hope to pick it up as soon as I can after School. I hope they won't be out.

Hard to have any game blow you away after ME2, eh?

Totally excited. And never really cared about reviews for Halo really. I enjoy the games, and I love Bungie, so I'm good no matter what.

I'm going to the midnight release, but I have to work it >.<

Ah well, when I get on in the morning most of my friends will be sleeping, meaning I can go through the campaign with minimal interruptions :)

Also Miracle, you better play with Megan and I! We missed you in the beta! Or at least I did...

The only games I can think of that I think merit a 10 would be Zelda: A Link To The Past, Street Fighter 2, Mass Effect 2 and Mario World, and possibly COD4.

Absolutely man! There's a bunch of us from Cork getting it and we'll be online all week hehe! Gonna do the campaign first though... don't want some 12 year old ruining it for me.

thats a good point. halo 3 was really over hyped and while I thought it was a very good game, imo it was easily the weakest in the series and the hype led to inflated reviews. now that halo hype is toned down the reach reviews are actually better than the halo 3 or even halo 2 reviews. especially considering that more people seemed to skeptical rather than exited going into this game.

I probably won't get it. Although I will enjoy counting how many people are staying off school to play it.

We are building consensus, try again later.

...Confirmed. I guess i just want deep games all the time, like i said in another thread to OnyxOblivion, most Multiplayer i get bored of very quickly and i find it hard to play a game purely for fun at the moment.

I did adore Halo 2 though when i played it and i never even played online Multiplayer with it, i just played Split Screen and replayed the single player over and over, however i was younger.

I really just don't like the Halo games. Never have enjoyed playing them, and this one looks no different. I may have to try Forgeworld though.
As an unbiased not-too-regular Halo player (I think I had something like 10 hours on the Halo 3 multi) who was never that into the series, I can tell you that Reach is faster, more visceral and more fun than any of the others.

IGN gave it a 9.5 and IGN UK gave it a perfect 10.

I don't get it. I understand people have fun with this game.. but what's so special about this entry, considering it's basically more of the same?

I'll be passing on this one, as I did with everything after the first Halo.

I have a friend who got it two days early (lucky bastard); he's already played matchmaking a fair bit.

Unfortunately I won't be getting Reach because I'm going to university in six days and I won't have my 360 with me. Fortunately another friend has offered to buy it for me for Christmas in exchange for lending him all my 360 games that I won't need while I'm at university :). Wish me luck avoiding spoilers in the mean time.
