I do not care how you look naturally. I'm an ugly ************ myself. But when you don't even try, you look like an irresponsible tool who is so far stuck up their own ass that they can't see that everyone around them thinks they are a douche. As I already mentioned, I do not care what you look like if it's something you can't change. But your hair is definitely something you can change. Do you really want people to look at you as an immature kid who grows their hair out for attention, or as you would say "to be different"?

Main reason I am growing my hair long is for the next Ohayocon. I am trying to grow it long because I want to cosplay as Edward Elric from Fullmetal Alchemist. Plus, I like having long hair. It makes it so I don't have to make eye contact with people, which is always a good thing with my low self-esteem.
Blunt, but it still proves my point (no offense)
And thus with this final post you indeed do prove that you are a troll has any one of your statements not been a direct attack on a specific group? good day to you sir it is nice to know we can disregard anything you say as hate speech.

I'm sorry, but this proves my point entirely. You don't have to do it to be different, some people really do look better with longer hair. Can you really sit there and belive that every single person on earth would look better with short hair? Can you really sit there and say that everyone on earth should look exactly alike? Because looking alike and thinking alike go hand in hand, my friend.

If you can, then there is absolutely nothing I, nor any other sane person has left to say to you, other than express extreme pity.

I highly doubt one school trying to get a kid's hair cut classifies as Hitler's idea.

I think people are just blowing this out of proportion. It isn't fascism, it is just two parties trying to get what they want and both parties are mostly ignoring what the kid wants.

I say just home school the kid. It is the best possible compromise.
That wasn't my point at all. I was being facetious number one, so don't go getting your knickers in a twist.

Number 2, home school does NOT solve the problem. If anything, this will make him feel even MORE isolated and freakish and self concious. Compromise is good, but situations like this are NOT the time to compromise. There is the potential for way too much to be at stake here.

REPETITION FOR THE SLOW: Situations like this can snowball out of control unless people are willing to stop it.
My two opinions the matter are this (besides the home school one). 1: The parents, the kid, and the school all agree on a hair length. 2: The parents find a different school for him where they do not care about hair length.

Gee, can't his parents just trim up the kid's mane a little? That's all it would have taken.

Yes, I can. Did I say everyone should look exactly alike? No, I did not. Just that long hair is gross. Seriously I have not seen a person that hasn't achieved celebrity status with long hair that isn't trashy or greasy. I don't go around covering myself in puke to be "different".

Also, I do not think you can accurately say that looking alike means thinking alike. I dress in abercrombie and fitch/holister clothes, yet here I am having a debate on the internet. Does that make me some sort of hybrid freak creature?
Everyone has their own opinions but saying that people with long hair looks like they covered themselves in puke is a bit of a derogatory statement.

If you don't like long hair, than that is fine. It is your opinion. Please, don't insult people because they have long hair.

OT: Long hair, really? And pimppeter, I don't want to start an argument, but we aren't saying that they shouldn't go by school rules, we're simply saying it's a retarded rule and shouldn't exist. Either way, this is yet another reason why public school owns.
It is a public school. At least I think, and that's what this thread has been going on for a while.
I know, I meant that homeschool doesn't have any dress code BS and is much better in general.

That's a blatant lie, I've been homeschooled since 2nd grade and I've been more confident than I ever was when I was sitting in one of 200 copy-pasted rooms for six hours with 20 other kids whom the majority of I never even spoke to.
Okay, this is going to be a long one. *Sighs*

@gof22: This does not solve the problem. This will cause the child to become more distressed and think that this entire situation has arisen because of his hair, or more directly, himself.

@Trist66: Long hair isn't necessarily greasy. And you can't base your opinions on what you see celebrities do, they are generally messed up people. That's what makes them great celebrities. I myself have mildly long hair, and it is never greasy. I shampoo every morning when I take a shower, it's never in my eyes as I keep it well trimmed. Your arguments are invalid, sorry. Oh, and about the whole "thinking alike = dressing alike" thing - it's entirely connected. Not necessarily a 1 to 1 ratio, but, they go hand in hand.

@Monicro1: That is entirely different for you. I mean that the child in question will feel more isolated and self concious because he will belive that this entire thing is because of him. The school made sure of that when they put him in ISR and such.

Actually yes you are saying everyone should be alike when you said:

"NEWSFLASH: Sunscreen has been invented. I repeat, a cream you may spread over your skin to prevent the sun from damaging it. And saying you don't like to apply it every time you go out makes you look lazy.
NEWSFLASH 2.0: Don't go outside during the winter. Or wear a coat with a hood."

which loosely translates to: Developing your own way around a problem is stupid cut your hair and do what everyone else does.
If that is not conformism is I really have no idea then.

I thoght the U.S were "the land of the free", or something like that. Doesn't this undermine that statement just a tad
It is the home of the free and the land of the brave.
If you are a rich, white, adult male, you are free.
If not, then you are brave.
Wow, I can't believe I just wrote that.
No really though, what the hell? Some how I find it hard to believe that even Texas would be that conservative.

Long hair is distracting in schools now? Hell, when I was in school I had hair going down to the middle of my back and nobody complained.

Basically you want people to invent grosser, less cool ways around problems that have already been solved years ago?
If i wanted to put out a fire with a fire extinguisher right next me, I do not try to develop a new way to fight the fire, I use the fucking fire extinguisher.
Plus if there's a fire, I'd be damn glad i didn't have long hair.
Do you even proofread what you write? Everything you just wrote there amounted to the following:
-Your a massive troll
-You want to stifle invention and creativity
-You are afraid of change

People like you do not deserve the rights you are given. I can't belive that I've wasted over 1 hour debating this topic with someone as hopelessly lost as you. Every one of your comments here is Report-worthy, and I implore everyone to do so on this Trish character.

the point isn't how easy it is to force a 4 year old to cut his hair. Its that the parents like the kids hair and let him keep it long if he wants it like that and the school is kicking him out, at 4 years of age mind you, because they say its a distraction...

Rules are rules, and in this case the rules where set for the school district so I'm assuming everyone from gr.1 to 12. Therefore you can't make exception or else your going to deal with potentially hundreds of students doing the same
