I'd normally be surprised that Faux News didn't go with someone from G4, since they've done that before, but with a track-record of pairing folks like Sean Hannity with Alan Combs, it seems in line with their style of "reporting".
I actually found out that Fox and Friends had asked Adam Sessler to do the debate but he did not go because of his schedule.

Steyer started off by claiming that his personal opinion is unquestionable evidence by saying, "There's no doubt there's a link between violent video games and kids."
I agree with this, we all know kids love violent games. This Steyer fellow was just playing on words to make it sound like he'd pointed out a link between violent games and violence in children. All he'd really done was state the obvious, kids like violent media, but, does that make them commit violent acts, nope.

I just played the mission in question today, I started shooting at the civilians as soon as I realised that was the object of the mission. Hey, in geometry wars I shoot at shapes, it doesn't mean whenever I see a triangle I go berserk.

Its a good thing Modern Warfare 2 didn't have sex in it...but no one really gets it do they? We get to play as a "terrorist" (CIA Agent) so they're going to assume we're going to become terrorists? I don't believe that correlation bullshit either. If so, then its by a small margarine.

To be fair, I've started to notice this being talked about in all news outlets.
Give it a few days and you're going to hear about it a whole lot more.

So I'm willing to give Fox News a pass on this because let's be honest, we ALL knew someone was going to get butt-hurt over this.
No need to play political fanboy and call ONE media source or political party group to task. The scene IS highly controversial, IW meant it to be so, and acknowledged the potentiality by allowing you to skip over it.

I had already prophecized this happening in another thread weeks ago.

Why do gamers never have an intelligent sounding spokesman? I bet any given member from The Escapist could've made us look better.

I'd love to have taken that guys place, I would have put them both in their damned place by saying how they never covered C&C AT ALL, Kane is effectively head of a terrorist army that can kill civilians, admittedly it's not as graphic, but the fact remains, but then I can come back with saying it's nowhere as graphics as the start of Saving Private Ryan, man, I want to be the voice of gaming (in the UK, I hate planes)

This time around I feel like they tried very hard to give a fair and balanced review. Not like what happened with Mass Effect. The guy representing the game did a terrible job at correcting fox's errors. And was a terrible representative on behalf of gamers. This is a fault on the part of our representative, not fox's. If they chose someone who maybe helped develop the game, I think they could have done a better job with that story.

I think Fox need to learn that just saying something is a "Fair and balanced debate" doesn't necessarily make it so.
THIS and the same for every other news station as well. Nothing new here though.

I don't watch fox (mainly because I'm British), but it seems extremely unfair that they didn't even bother getting an actual gamer to debate. It was all horribly one sided.
You're not even from America and yet you hit the nail right on the head with that assessment. Fox has always been very one sided because and it works because it's very easy to take selections from something like mw2 and call it evil. They however will avoid the good parts like when you disarm the nukes effectively saving the world from the terrorists. (that was not a spoiler for I have not even played mw2)

They also dance around facts like they portray it as a horrible scene and use it to show how horrible these people are to make you hate the terrorists.

Me thinks that Fox "shopped around" for the most incoherent spokesman they could find to defend video-games.

But as always Fox News is dodging the REAL issue... what about those dedicated servers!

Looks pretty bias, the kid didn't plan his speech. Jim has experiance in giving GAMES ARE EVIL!!! speeches, but with the anti-terrorist stuff happening in the U.S a kid playing this may get edgy and a bit more aggresive if he/she is impressionable enough, but still, games have been a scapegoat for youth violence for a while and it won't stop anytime soon.

My dad was nervous about letting me play GTA, but I have not become more aggressive, rude and a potty-mouth. Some kids are to impressionable, and the parents should know this.

I love how the host is supposed to be mediating but he goes on to argue with the /gamer guy - after letting him get in the "last word". It's not news, it's not even a debate. Who pays attention to this sort of thing?

As for MW2, this certainly has piqued my curiosity over the controversial segment of the game. I loved the first Modern Warfare for some of the unique and different perspectives it gave to war, specifically the gun ship level. I may have to get my hands on a copy just to see what they do with MW2.

Is it too much to ask that all the cast Fox and Friends die slow, horrible, painful deaths?
Nope, preferably in a 'Vlad the Impaler' fashion. I would love to have a small forest of impaled 'Fox & Friends' cast members out on my front lawn.
